Sorry, I thought I put that info in there.

The computer is an ACER Aspire E380

  • Bad Axe Feb 11, 2008

Someone else finally advised me that the side panel was probably just stuck and needed a little more effort to slide out.

They were right and it worked.

Now my speakers don't work after I plugged them back in.

    Any solutions for that?

  • Bad Axe Feb 11, 2008

Thanks for trying. This has happened before when i unplug the speakers. There are no instructions that tell me what settings are required to make them work.

I'll probably have to take the computer back to the store and let the GEEK SQUAD tell me what needs to be done.

Trust me when I say I am not totally ingnorant. I can read and follow instructions when they are provided.

If you think I'm unhappy with ACER, you are right. Never again.

Open it back up and check the front panel wires to see if they are all plugged in, and if plugged in to check if there plugged in correctly

The speaker's front panel wire has a is hard to miss ! it usually is the widest of the wires and it's also usually marked speaker with a 4 pin female connector. hope this helps.

Open emachines el1352g-41w

Open the eMachines EL1352G-41W computer case?

Unplug the computer from power. Unplug all cables. Turn the computer tower around so the back faces you.

Look at the Left side. This Side Panel removes.
There is a handle for your fingers, formed out of the Side Panel's sheet metal.

Above the handle along the edge, and towards the Top, there is a Philips head screw. Loosen this screw. (It isn't supposed to come all the way out)
Down below the handle, and towards the bottom, is another Philips head screw. Loosen this screw.

Use the handle in the Side Panel, to pull back on it. Pull towards the back of the computer tower.

The Side Panel may only pull back so far. There may be tabs which stick out of the Side Panel, and go into slots in the computer tower's case.

For this style the Side Panel will only pull back approximately 1 inch, or so.
Then the Side Panel is brought straight out away from the computer tower, and laid aside.

[ NOTE*
Do NOT forget to observe Anti-Static Precautions BEFORE reaching inside your computer, and working on it.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.

Should you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

  2. Unplug the power cable and with the power cable removed press the Power button.
  3. Remove the screws on the rear of the desktop (Your PC case may appear different than the images in this document). Figure 1: Example of screws for the side panel kytechnology_9.jpg
  4. Slide the side panel off from the rear of the desktop. Figure 2: Removing the side panel kytechnology.gif

The case should now be open.

How to open gateway 300c desktop

There are several casings. You'll just have to pick one that fits your computer. Before you begin anything. Turn off your computer and remove the power cable. New Midtower Case 1 Look for a release handle on the top of the new midtower case. 2 Push the release handle inward. 3 Swing the case down from the top to open it. Microtower Case 1 Lay the computer down so that the left side is face up. 2 Locate two cover release levers on the back of the case toward the middle of the left side panel. 3 Squeeze the release levers together, then lift the panel up, swinging it away from the back of the case. Old Midtower Case 1 Lay the computer on its side, so that the left side panel is face up. 2 Remove any retaining screws along the left side of the back of the case that are holding the panel in place. These screws may be removed with your fingers. 3 Locate two release levers at the top and bottom of the back side of the case, and push them away from each other. 5 Swing the panel up and away from the case to open it while holding the release levers.

How do you take apart the tower

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Look at the "back" panel.
You might see thumb-screws that hold the side-panels in place,
or you might see Philips-head ("cross") screws.
Or, you might see plastic "locks" -- slide them 1/4 inch to "unlock" the side-panel, and lift it off.

Or, look at the side-panel -- there may be a "lever" (like a "tab" on the top of a pop-can) that can be lifted to release the side-panel.

Or, older towers had a "one-piece" cover (like an upside-down "U") that needed to be unscrewed, pushed slightly towards the back ot the case, and then vertically lifted off.

Opening the box up to update memory card. I have bought another memory board to speed up my pc. Unfortunately I do not know how to open the tower system case to get into the relevant areas. Your help would...

Click on the link below, it is to the manual for that computer which shows the case opening. On know on the model, if you are looking at the back...on the right hand side a little lower than half way down is a lever. Press the lever down and that releases the catch. Look at the side panel on the side where the lever is, at the back are indentions, while holding the lever down, place your fingers of the other hand in these indentions and slide the panel toward the rear of the case until it is loose. The panel is now disconnected from its attaching points. The link to the user manual is below.

Opening side panel of acer aspire t180

You have done half the work toward the solution by removing the thumbscrews. The other half involves sliding a spring-loaded lever above the lower thumbscrew toward the bottom of the case. While the lever is slid toward the case bottom, push on the side panel in the same direction as the screws, i.e. toward the rear of the case. The side panel should slide just slightly, allowing you to then lift it off to access the inside. Note that when replacing the side panel, follow the above steps in reverse order.

When replacing the side panel, note that if the panel is not correctly replaced, the thumbscrews will not be able to be installed as the lock lever will not be set properly.
