Olympus has not supported that printer on the Mac in 10+ years. Also checking the Apple printer driver support page I do not see ANY Olympus printers currently supported by Apple: OS Printer and scanner software available for download
I would suggest replacing that printer with a current model photo printer (also Dye-Sub) from Canon. The Canon Selphy Dye-Sub photo printers produce flawless professional glossy prints: Compact Photo Printers
It is quite possible that if the printer is old (And Kodak would not be within the mainstream printer manufacturers for computers) it simply will not work with Vista.
Have you tried typing in the printer type (name) to Google and searching for a driver - example "Kodak ABC printer driver for Vista".
Alternatively maybe the support area of the Kodak website could help.
Finally, running a windows update may uncover a driver from Microsoft that solves your problem. I have often found hardware drivers by simply running windows update.
Your ALPS MD-5000 MUST be set to print in DYE-SUB. mode.... Is there a Memory upgrade plugged into the slot next to the Printer Port? If not, then it's not an option......
If they do not have a driver on the website specifically for Windows Vista, you could try a Windows XP driver and see if it is compatible. If not, you will not be able to use the printer without the specific Driver software. Hope this helps.
I've had the same problem for some time, but recently found a fix.
Those sneaky folks at Kodak updated their Vista driver for the ESP
series, and it works with Windows 7 now. Oddly enough they haven't
advertised this fact, but it works none-the-less. Now, you're going to
have to uninstall the Kodak Home Center, the driver and anything else
associated with Kodak. You need to manually go through the Program
Folder and delete anything Kodak. Make sure you set explorer to show
hidden files/directories, and go to Program Data and delete any thing
Kodak. Finally go to users appdata and delete anything Kodak in all
the sub folders there. Then download and install the new May 1 drivers
from the Kodak site:
