Zenith r56w36 I accidently pressed the auto convergence button and now my picture is bowed and is in 3D and looks very bad. I tried to set the convergence by pressing the only auto convergence button there is. That didn't do anything to help my picture. please help me before I set my tv on fire. thanks [email protected]

    hello ladywinn my name is mike and you sent me an email reguarding my zenith R56w36 that has the 3D picture caused by me pressing the convergence button. Your email said to replace the convergence board, I am pretty good with hands on repairs and I think I can fix the problem with some help from you. I just need to know where to get the convergence board and how much it costs and maybe some instructions from you on how to install the new board. I really appresiate your help.     Hi I'm having same convergency problem ? where do I buy Parts and can I do it ? I tend to do most repairs myself but never on a television. Please can I get Any Advice from you as well thanx al.

Unless you can do TV repair your out of luck on this one! Replace your convergence board or ship it for repair cheapest way.You must remeber to connect board exactly the way it hooks up , convergence board has 2 ics on it STK392-120 these ics go bad all the time and when you press auto they quit working.If you need any more help let me know. Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
•Screen looks 3D
•Colors don't line up
•One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
•Screen is bowed or warped.
•TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

I have a wavy 3d looking screen with weird colors
Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence


These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

If you replaced the convergence ICs did you check the convergence resistors as well, as often the old ICs will take out a few resistors in the Convergence feed circuits or at least increase their values and that can give those symptoms youre describing after new ICs are instaleed.

Convergence 3D
You have to try auto convergance from the menu.
There ust be convergance adjustment on menu.You will find cross at center of the screen.green cross is the refrance ,you have to overlap red and blue to form white cross.
once you have formed white cross than the picture will be perfect.

Zenith 50" R56W36
maybe on your remote press menu and find converence and use the keys to move the red first over the green then move the blue over the yellow ..by standing back and just using the remote....should end up with white lines. and dont hit that button again once set. a tech should do this quickly and charge you minium.
