I have no fountain controls.
I replaced main control board and still no luck>
I can jump everything out on the board and get everything to work. All that happens when you push the button to activate the water or ice the light comes on. Dont know what to do any help will be appreciated.
Our fridge will allow the water to come out of the dispenser, but will not let ice, whether crushed or cubed, come out of the dispenser. The dispenser flapper operates. There is no power to the plug in the back of the refrigerator but the motor is working when bench tested. Our fridge will allow the water to come out of the dispenser, but will not let ice, whether crushed or cubed, come out of the dispenser. Remove the screws and take a look at the control panel board. Everything is modular these days so the control panel, power supply board etc should all be plug and play. Look for a part number on the board and source a new one online. It might be around $100 though so check the main board for a fuse. It might be soldered into the circuitry but can still be replaced if your inclined to do so. Test it with a voltmeter to see if it is blown or current passes through it.
Maytag MZD2766GEW is a 2000 model that was manufactured until 2005. The serial put its manufacturing date around the middle of 2001 (the first 2 digits represent the month since the unit was first launched).
Yes. it's about time to cut your losses and accept that this fridge has had it's days , and now is time for a new one. Actually in the user manual they clearly state that the expected service life of your fridge is 8 years so it has worked beyond that.
The older Adaptive Defrost Control (ADC) boards - short L1 and TEST pins together (you can use the tip of an insulated screwdriver or short length of wire - stripped only at the ends). Newer ADC boards don't have a TEST pin. You can also force defrost by cycling the Cold Control 3 times within 6 seconds and leave it on COLD (this may work only for the newer ADC without the TEST pins).
in most cases its not the defrost board test the defrost element/s make sure they are not blown test at both ends like a fuse you should get a resistence rating of around .2 ohm if the curcuit is open then the defrost elements need replacing maytag have very reliable defrost control boards they dont fail all that often
Hi Staci, welcome to Fixya.
In regards to your fridge freezing up continually ( I assume you have to defrost it manually ). It is likely the defrost comtrol. Your fridge has what`s called an "adaptive defrost control" and it is an electronic control board.
That is based on the info provided indicating your model is a Maytag.
I`d bet on the defrost control, it is certainly the most common for maytag built fridges such as yours. ( now owned by Whirlpool )
Part # 12002104 and retails for approx. $ 65- $70 via "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclininc.com". Repair clinic substitutes it to their own part # 948430, but they are one in the same.
It will be located in the right rear corner of the fridge section under all the plastic control & light covers.
Hope that answer`s your question. Thank`s for coming to "fixya".

Part number 12001760 fountain kit(includes solenoid, flapper door &hinge pin $50,part number 61003425 control board $95,part number 61003407 fountain bracket $25. Depends on how much you like the fridge but thats a lot to spend on an ice dispenser. and thats assuming you do it yourself otherwise add at least another $100
For those who had the control board replaced or are experiencing the
frig side warming while the freezer side continues freezing; The
problem may (still) be a faulty control board. I fixed the issue by
replacing a $1.00 capacitor on the board. I'm not a techy and it wasn't
too difficult to solder. More info on what to do here; DIY Chatroom
In the mean time, there is ice forming behind the back panel in the lower section of the freezer. This blocks airflow to the frig side.
I use a pump pressure garden sprayer with hot water to defrost the
coils. Gets the job done in 20 minutes and I don't have to worry about
defrosting items in the freezer.
freezer not defrosting. probably adaptive defrost board in fridge.
take panel off freezer (inside, back panel). if all frozen, can defrost with blow dryer. best to remove fridge control panel (inside, top of fidge). access adaptive defrost board, jump test to f1 (i think) next to test. this should initialize defrost mode. buy new board.
Same issue, replaced the main board and fountain does not respond
