It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the TV there are few capacitors and IC.any of this ic is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop. This will help you in solving the problem....
The self-diagnostic function of the projection television will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue, some of which you may be able to resolve without the need for service.
If the STANDBY light flashes three times in sequence, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
If the STANDBY light flashes four times in sequence, the television may be overheating. To resolve this issue, ensure that the back of the television is well ventilated.
NOTE: If the television will not turn on immediately after being turned off, wait for the fan to finish its cycle, then attempt to turn it on again. This is part of the cooling process of some projection televisions and is normal operation.
If the flash sequence is not listed above, or the light continues to flash after troubleshooting the indicated issue, follow the steps below to perform a power reset on the television:
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
Tv red LED lights indication front of the bazel screen flashing are most common problems. When was the last time the projection lamp was replaced in this tv?The lamp in the tv now,is it in the the tv about 1 1/2 or 2 years and tv on watches about 4 or 5 hours a day in used? The projection lamp life are over.Require a new projection lamp.
If lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years then replace it, this tv turns off and on because of dying lamp. Let me know if you see standby/power light flashing on tv front, this is an error code that shows some other problem instead of lamp.
Replaced the projection lamp again.Sony projection lamp more expensive, but last longer too.Genaric projection lamp brand last about 1 1/2 max.U hear clickinng sound too, when LED light flashes?Mean the Ballast board also dead, require changing too.The Ballast board help to ignite the projection lamp.
Hi,it sounds like your lamp is going bad,its symptoms are : will shut off and on,led indicators. The lamp on your set last 6000-8000 hrs 2--3 yrs and its made by Philips .Part # is XL2000 found it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=XL2000+?Click=48173
Count the flashes of the standby light and the gap between the flashes as the tv is giving you the exact error code for the fault this way. Then check in the handbook and sony forums for the solution. Personally I have found ALL sony products to be like a spoilt rich kid, replace the parts with genuine sony, if you dont it mis-behaves itself in ways never seen before. Good luck.
