It sounds like either your fuel pump has quit or your fuel filter is badly plugged. If you crank it for a while and do not smell gasoline back at the exhaust, your fuel pump has probably quit.
you need to have the computer checked for any codes this may help in starting diagnostics.then check the fuel pressure with a gauge.you could have a problem with the maf sensor/map sensor but these need to be checked out with a dvom(digital volt ohm meter),this is just some places to start.
Well from my experiece with 95 nissian max and 94 nissian sentra they havve been close to the fire wall and my daugters lincoln filter was in inside fender skirt but i doubt your is ask your local mazda dealer l have asked them many question s and they were quite happy to help with imfo
your injector or fuel pump may be going out, next time when you check the issue, check your distubutor again and making sure you getting sparks, if you do have sparks than it has to be your fuel problems.
Thermostats are normally inside a small well on the engine side of the upper radiator hose. There would be 3 or so small bolts locking the cover/lid. The lid often also have the outlet where the radiator hose is plugged in.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
