Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655 36" Rear Projection HDTV
My husband's precious TV has died! Moved a few months ago, since then occasionally TV would cut off and come back on in seconds (sometimes after hitting it). Two days ago I came in after being gone for a few days and it would not turn on at all. I could hear the "thung" sound like it was, a small flash of light at the bottom right of the screen but no picture at all. After a few seconds the smaller "thung" of the TV shutting off and then the red standby light is constantly flashing 4 times. We've already tried the hard reset and the whack/smack test (with vigor). Any other suggestions? I bought this used for about $300 over a year ago and I don't want to spend a ton to fix it. Should I scrap it or is it worth the repair? Thanks for any and all input/advice!
Sounds like a typical high-voltage failure. Could easily cost another $300 to have it fixed. If it is less than about 6 years old I'd say it was worth fixing. If you want to DIY, then pull all the electronics out (label all the connections) and send it all to either Module Exchange at 972-298-1212 or PTS Electronics 800-844-7871
