Check the yellow pages, more than likely it will cost you more just for the service call then what the unit is worth,

Power light blinking on sony dvd player

Repair of a portable unit with a power supply problem inside it is likely not to be economical and parts for these units are rarely available.

No magic wand for this issue--unless was a very expensive unit replace it--

Dvd pdm 0711 - powers up... screen turns blue... but does not spin. is she dead?

These products are fragile and prone to failures of many kinds due their internal complexity.

If it is still under warranty you should have it repaired by their authorized facility.

It may reset and start working again. Unplug the power adapter and remove the batteries for a period of at least 30 minutes; then try it again.

If the reset does not help it means there is a mechanical or electronic failure. There are many possibilities and it is impossible to know without doing some testing of the unit by skilled hands. The usual or most common problem when these symptoms occur is a weak or dead laser diode (which is mounted inside the optical pickup assembly). Since the laser cannot read the data on the disc the servo mechanism thinks there is no disk in the unit and shuts down the drive motor.

Replacing the laser diode is very expensive and it requires the entire optical pickup to be replaced and realigned. And, you may have to wait several days for the replacement parts and repair. It is NOT something you can do at home. Cost will be in the range of $150; maybe less if you can get a shop that knows the Polaroid models and has done one before.

since this unit is less than $200 new, it may not be a wise investment for repair.

Hope i helped you.

DO RATE THE SOLUTION.

I came home one day and nothing worked...the power light just keeps blinking????? what can I do?

Unplug for 24 hours, if still bad then power supply is bad, usually you had a power surge as the unit is still on when it's turned off. Get new unit and buy APC 5 minutes minimum. Ask salesman, he'll help. Way too costly to repair..

Has Sound but no picture

Unfortunately, 2% to 4% of consumer electronics are either defective on the store shelf (I got my TV home, plugged it in, and it wouldn't turn on) or they develop a defect during the warranty period or shortly thereafter. So, even though you just bought the unit two months ago, if you have sound but no picture, the unit needs to be repaired or exchanged.

As long as you have the receipt, you should still be in warranty since the shortest warranty for name brand electronics is 90 days from the date of purchase. Contact the manufacturer to obtain the warranty procedure. This will likely involve you sending the unit back to them at your expense and they will send you a repaired, refurbished, or new player.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may assist you better. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Cyber home dvr 1600 problem

Hi. I have one of these units with the same problem

Mine will play audio CD's OK but DVDs are troublesome. I asked around on various forums and it appears that the DVD laser in the unit has failed or is on it's way out. (There are usually 2 lasers: one for reading normal CD's and one for DVDs).

I have noticed that my unit gets quite hot when in use and has very poor ventilation. Unfortunately any build up of heat can cause the laser diodes to malfunction and eventually fail and I think that's what has happened with mine.

If you still have a guarantee on your unit you could try and get it repaired otherwise it will be an expensive job and it may be cheaper to get a new unit.

Hope this helps

Hello, I have a JVC TH-S66 home cinema system where both the composite and scart are faulty (picture appears grainy and almost b&w). I took it to my local repairer who has had it 4 months and says that...

Did you contact JVC directly. As a servicer for 25 years, it is typical that I will not get much help from a company UNLESS the customer calls and complains. Sounds like your repairer is caught in that same trap. Frustrating for both you and the repair person, but just how most companies deal with repair problems (IMHO).

Lg da3520 home cinema system refuses to play DVD discs. It has no problem playing CDs but DVDs it either says "Check Disc" or "Disc Error" or continues to attempt to load the disc but...

you have probably to clean up your dvd player with a clean up CD. After that if your dvd player doesn't want to read a dvd but play a cd, your laser output must be to fix. you'll have to go to a specialist.
