Question about LaCie Silverscreen 80GB USB 2.0 - Portable Multimedia (093053682095) Hard Drive
I got my Lacie Silverscreen USB2.0 yesterday. I copied a couple of films ( .avi, .mpg and DVD rips ) on it.
Today I faced the issue, that for a DVD rip, the Silverscreen shows the first .VOB file, but do not jump automatically to the next. Even worse is that you even can not manually start the second part of the film, means the second .VOB file.
I tried this now with different DVD rips, and it's for all of them the same :-((
So my next idea was to check the version of the Firmware, and have seen that version 126.96.36.199 / 26th April 2007 !! was installed. So I downloaded from Lacie Support page the "newest" firmware and got shocked that this is the most actual version :-((
Does anyone has an idea what's the problem here, and, first why this happens to the DVD rips, and second, why the most actual firmware is 10 month old ??!!
thanks for any help on that,

I have solved the problem. It is really easy. You can make an iso file with Clone DVD II, DVD Schrink or another program who can make iso from vob files. if you do so, their will be file with the name of the converted dvd and at the end of the name it has to end with: .iso ( dot iso ). If there is another extension, remove this one and replace this one with ( .iso ). It worked by me.
Sorry for my terrible English, its from a good hart.

You can not see DVDs in "unpacked" mode (at least not satisfactory), you have to have them in iso format. The firmware is not a problem, the new firmware brings support for more HD drives only.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Tips for a great answer:
An ISO file is a dvd image. It needs to be burned to a blank DVD disc to use it. Use DVD Author Plus - http://www.deskshare.com/dvd-authoring-burning-software.aspx - to burn it to a DVD.
Now you can use Rip DVD Plus -http://www.deskshare.com/dvd-ripping-software.aspx - to bring it back to any format you want; AVI, MP4, etc.
