Can't get my iPod to charge or even show up on my computer
Hi there!
Often, when an iPod does this it just needs to be 'reset'. To do this, turn on the iPod, and then press and hold the center button and the top ('menu') button just above it. You'll have to hold these two down together for anywhere from 10 to 40 seconds. When you see the screen go dark, you can let go.
At that point, you should see the Apple logo appear as the iPod reboots. Take this opportunity to reboot your computer... this might help out as well.
When both the computer and iPod have rebooted, go ahead and plug the iPod in and see if you get a response from iTunes.
I'm afraid this is not "the" solution, necessarily... there are a number of potential fixes for the issue you're describing, but this is the first thing that I would try.
The next thing to try would be to go into your control panel, into the add/remove software program and completely uninstall iTunes. Then reinstall iTunes, reboot the computer, and try again.
Best of luck!
