Hitachi 50H72 Convergance issue

I have been scanning the boards here and need a little bit more help. My Hitachi has the separate colors with the curve on the top and bottom middle of the screen. A search on here pointed towards a IC replacement. Replaced both IC's with no change in picture. Am I possibly looking at some blown Pico fuses or something else that I am missing? Also, in relation to the Pico fuses, I read they would be located near the IC's, but does anyone know what they look like and how I would use the mulitmeter to test them? Or am I looking at a totally different fix? Thanks ahead of time for any help and suggestions!!

They look like tiny resisters, you check them with an ohm meter and they should show little resistance, have you checked the resisters in the convergence area there should be about 6 of them 1.6 ohm to 3.9 ohms.

These tv's have a separate convergence power supply that goes bad. This will cause the problem you are having. Depending on the age of your tv, the board may be available

Hi,

Hitachi Convergence

Check out the Convergence Gallery. If you see the colored outlines or color shading as in the Gallery, you have a convergence problem.

The repair for a Hitachi requires the replacement of the defective IC or ICs and any damaged or smoked resistors. Some models don't have a separate convergence board and the board is not usually available for the ones that do have a separate convergence board. Usually there is little alignment required after the repair. If you play with all the adjustments before the fix, hours may be spent re-aligning.

If you change the original ICs with substitute "new and improved" parts that are talked about in the blogs, you will probably create problems. Use the original ICs and resistors.

Don't monkey with it.

This is a delicate and difficult repair. If not done by someone with some electronic repair experience, the TV will likely end up as junk or cost considerably more for a tech to fix the damage done.

If you live in Calgary, call me. If elsewhere, find a competent tech.

Hitachi Model 43FDX20B Pink and Green Colors only

The convergence IC's you speak of are always mounted side by side and use the same #'s and are mounted on big metal heat sinks . Most start with STK392-??? . Also you may have bad resistors that are discolored and need changed as well . Some sets are protected by fuses but don't look like the typical glass fuses. They are pico fuse which could be green or yellow in color but look like resistors but do not have the color bands . Replacing the board could require a total convergence alignment. If you decide to take to a shop your avg. cost could be $250 to $300. If you do it yourself IC's and resistors or fuse would run around $50 to $70 bucks . Don't by the $9.95 IC's as they do not hold up as well . They should cost $20 to $25 apiece . Good luck

Convergence IC's are at locations IK04 and IK05. There are some resistors that will be burnt up on the board as well. Replacement IC's are stk392-150, and are easily purchased, even off ebay. For the resistors you may have to get the location numbers and research the value. If you need the resistor values you can email me and I will get you the info.
