Question about Canon PIXMA iP4200 InkJet Photo Printer

2 Answers

Printer My canon pixma IP4200 has been showing a message of 'Some ink tanks are not installed in place. Confirm that the following ink tanks are in the appropriate position.' & when you press the ok button, it just pops up again & won't print. It's been doing this ever since I changed the 3 colours, but is only saying that the yellow is not in place. Is there any way round this?Regards, Nicola

I have since fitted a proper canon ink cartridge & it works fine, it seems my printer doesn't like 'compatible' cartridges.

Message says more than one ink tank of Yellow is installed and so can not print--- removed and replaced cartridge, cleaned the contacts

Installed new ink on ip4200. Black will not print on test page "horizontal box", other colors print. Any suggestion on why the black won't print? Thanks.

The ink tank requires air to flow through it so ink can move from the reservoir to the print heads.
  1. Confirm there is no orange tape across the top of the ink tank

  2. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (A), it is properly removed.

  3. If the orange tape is as shown in Figure (B), remove the remaining tape to the level shown in Figure (A).

  4. Make sure each ink tank is snapped into the printer.

Tip

Duplicate Cartridge Error - Which one is causing it

The purpose of this exercise is to rule out ink tanks that are behaving and isolate the one(s) responsible for the duplicate. Please perform the following:

1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.

2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.

3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as they are not currently installed in the printer.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.

5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of the issue is the last ink tank.

Hope this helps
Mike

Why does my canon pixmar IP4200 keep saying two

Maybe one ink chip is faulty. Try to remove one and leave in the other (do the same for each one) to see if printer says something different. Otherwise your ink sensor could be broken.

Replaced two ink tanks in my pixma but the lights will not flash

You cant realy do anything, i had the same problem whit my IP5000.
I tryed everything but nothing helped, after speaking whit canon here in sweden they told me to let it be, after next tank instalation it will disappear and you printer will be as usal again. Canon told that the problem is on the chip on the tank. When the printer tell you that the tank is empty or not right just press the blinking yellow button on the printer and hold it for at least 5 seconds.

Good luck

Canon Pixma ip4200 printer, error 1414

Hello there,

I've gotten in touch with Canon and have something a little different to try. At the very least the error should change. (Sorry, gallows humor). Please read this entire response before taking action.

After the upcoming test procedure, I have included a link and procedure to contact Canon tech support. The assure me they will replace any faulty tanks.

The purpose of this exercise is either rule out ink tanks that are behaving or isolate the one(s) responsible for the 1414. You should write down the results of this test.

Error 1414 Ink tank problem on my Canon PIXMA iP4200
The error won't go away.
I have replaced the <color in question> tank, reseated it, yet the error remains.

You will also need to list what inks are being used in the printer. State the type of ink that is being used and the order that the tanks are installed in the print head.
Provide the exact part number (such as BCI-6C, BCI3eBk, etc.) if possible.

The Canon support rep assured me they will be glad to replace the malfunctioning tank(s) for you at no cost. Please
respond with the results, and specify the ink tank(s) that were not recognized correctly.

They responded quickly, professionally and apologetically. They want to help get this resolved for you.
