Question about Samsung CLP 300 Laser Printer

2 Answers

Power surge Every time I start the printer, it sucks so much power for a blip that it shuts down everything in the room that is plugged into the power sources for a brief moment. This includes the DSL modem, computer, etc. This is extremely annoying.

Spend another $200 to fix a problem on my $200 printer ?

  • Atishshah Feb 08, 2008

I have tried using various different power outlets for the printer with the same results. I also had another Epson printer that worked fine. This Samsung printer definately takes a huge surge of power when it starts up and is not normal.

Do what it did, by a ups, set it to really sensitive, it will detect that start up surge as electrical noise and at least it will keep everything from turning off, just plug it into the surge only side, not the back up sid2e

try changing the capacity of the powerbox. thats why you are experiencing fluctuations. there is nothing wrong with your printer, its in the mains.

Had power surge. Tv was on surge protector. Now no power will come on and just makes a buzzing sound.

Have you tried plugging it in without the surge protector? I would wager that either a) the surge protector needs to be reset/turned on and off depending on the model or b) either your TV and/or surge protector have been damaged by the power surge.

Try plugging the TV straight into the outlet and see if that helps.

We had a power surge in our living room while the TV was on. It was also plugged into a surge protector, however, everything else turned back on but the TV. There is no power going into it at all, as if...

Sounds like it might have blew a fuse on the AC input to the power supply, have to remove the back and look for a fuse near where the AC wires go from the plug on the tv. If the fuse is good
the power supply board will have to be checked or replaced..Next time consider buying a surge
protector that starts clamping at a lower voltage. Panamax brands usually start going to work
at 150v rms, where most others start at 330v rms..

My computer reboot everytime I print on Brother MFC8440

Hello uday,

All brother laser machines have a huge spike in power usage when they power up, about 15 amps for a second or two; this is normal.

It is strongly recommended not to use a UPS for Laser printers.

The reason the computer shuts down is because the UPS only allows for a certain amount of electricity to go through and since the printer needs so much, the UPS cuts power to the computer.

Hello. Unplug the usb cable from the computer. Reboot the computer. Remove the power supply off the printer. The power supply is the black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to. Reinsert the power supply after 10-15 seconds. When the printer's ready, plug the usb cable back to the computer. Good luck!

Sony Bravia LCD TV is tripping the fuse in the house

These things draw a huge surge current when turned on. What size fuse are you blowing? These things can surge 10-12 amps on turn-on. What about a fuse with a reset button. They will take alittle more surge before they go. Don't matter about the insignia working before because the cheaper sets tend to stay powered up more when off....thus not surging on from a dead start. Could you try a different plug on a different circuit/fuse? and see if that makes a difference. If you have a 15 amp fuse, then your pretty close with other stuff plugged in. What size is your service? Do you still have an original 60 amp box with screw in fuses? Is it an old house?

Printer Surge

I agree with first thought circuit overload.

I dont think it is the printer, I think it is your power supply in house. Just moving it to another socket does not change it from what might already be a circuit with a lot of load already.

You are experenceing surges that are normal operation ie at power on quatz lamp turns on reaching temp of 180 deg cel, then idles, if print command is issued back on comes the lamp drawing power.
