Hey,

From the looks of your system, Its a pentium D 915 CPU, with integrated graphics.
From the spec sheets, you should be able to upgrade to even an 8800 series, although that would require you to purchase a higher wattage power supply.
My recommendation is:
if you want graphics grunt for later model games, (i.e shooters like CoD4) the card you need (without needing a new PSU) would be the 8600gt. This is an excellent card and does not require external power.
If you want a cost-effective option, go with the 8500gt or an ati (amd) something equivalent. They arent the fastest cards out, but they will do a better job than the integrated graphics.

Hope that helps,
Sincerely,

The board contains two separate, mutually exclusive graphics options. Either the integrated
graphics processor (contained within the ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Northbridge) is used, or a PCI
Express x16 add-in card can be used. When a PCI Express x16 add-in card is installed, the ATI
Radeon Xpress 200 Northbridge graphics controller is disabled.

P5S800-VM/S

The best you can fit is an AGP 8X type card. They are difficult to find now, so the prices of decent cards are going up. Your computer is about 3 generations behind, You would get better graphics performance by buying a new motherboard, CPU and memory bundle. It would be cheaper in the long run, as you could then upgrade the graphics card in the future and then upgrade the CPU as well. You can still keep the case and other computer peripherals you already use. But if you want an AGP card look on the Auction sites.

Cannot find specification for packard bell i start 1379. I want to look into the possibility of upgrading this pc. Can anyone point me in the direction of the specs being available online for this...

Here is the homepage:

http://www.packardbell.co.uk/pb/en/GB/content/download

This specs provided was complete with a Intel Intel Serial ATA-300 ATA-133 PCI 160 GB Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic , ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 128 MB 4 MB . The Desktops memory add up to 2048 MB , with standard memory 512 MB , memory installed 533 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM DIMM 240-pin Very low profile PC4300 Compact Flash Type I with 2 Expansion Sockets/Slots.

You can update the graphic, by adding a better graphic card, on the mainboard.
The ram can be upgraded to 2 gb ddr2 ram.
A bigger harddrive, can be added, for more space.
The cpu will be hard to find, it probably have socket 775, but this cpu is not available anymore.
And not all cpu`s will fit the mainboard.

Good luck

I have a Gigabyte GA-81945GZME-RH motherboard that needs a new graphics card was wondering will ATI Radeon 5570 1GB PCI-E graphics card work. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The motherboard has a PCI-E slot, so the Radeon card will fit. You might need to upgrade your power supply, as a 400-watt supply is recommended on AMD's site for this card. Otherwise you shouldn't have any problems with the new card.

Graphic card for GA-8IPE1000 series

HI there.
There are loads of makers of memory and graphics cards out there to choose from.
For the ram i would recommend Corsair or Kingston, you can get this ram as a matching pair so the both run at the same speed, the best ram to get is DDR 400.
As for the graphics card, i recommend ATI radeon X1650 Pro 512MB graphics card.
These upgrades will make your machine purr like a kitten with an excellent gaming experience.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
