1 Answer

Sony32fs120 I think my board blew. The tv fell and a piece of the board broke off. I tried fixing it by jumping the circuits. When pluging in the mains it goes into protetion mode. I checked continuity and it seems fine. I tried to get a diagram but witout success. here in South Africa you do not get other boards that will fit, and to import one will cost too much then I can just as well buy a new tv and will sadly would have to let the sony go Can you please help? Johan Sorry for the bad english

Emerson TV SN: 011-40401078 Model TC1379 The power switch came loose and fell inside. I don't know if it broke or came apart. I only found the plastic piece and don't know how it attaches...

Well somtimes buttons break off of tv's because that they are old so its not worth fixing an old tv
now a days most people just buy a new one then instead of fixing the old one. Or you could find someone that fixes old tv's too. To find an old tv like the phiilps one we used to have you would probally need to go to an antique store or and a pawn shop or a secondhand store or a garage sale then. Or the dump because sometimes people put things in the dump like CRT tv's to get rid of them then.

32" TV fell over onto carpeted floor and won't

It's probably a write-off. The circuit board inside has been cracked so that some of the copper traces that connect parts have broken. This commonly happens around the area of the horizontal output transformer, which is heavy. The shock of the fall causes the transformer to bounce and breaks the board. Other areas too may have been damaged because of flexing. And worst, the picture tube can be damaged in a fall, so it either doesn't work at all or shows permanently distorted colors.

It's tough to find anyone willing to repair a set that's fallen. Many circuit board tracks are very narrow and hard to repair. Then it's difficult to know if all the damage has been found and repaired, so even if the set starts working a technician doesn't know if something else won't go wrong. And then there's that bad tube possibility; no technician likes to spend lots of time fixing a broken board only to find the set then needs a new tube. Trust me, this has happened to me several times during my career in TV shops.

Your best bet is to use this as an excuse to buy a new LCD or plasma TV. 40-inch models, a good size match for a 32-inch CRT (tube) model, are reasonably priced.

My tv fell and I think the sensor is ruined. The remote now won't work. The plastic isn't broke, but I think sensor is broke as the tv fell on it's face.

most of the time, the circuit board cracks around the remote sensor, when there is a fall like this. the TV will have to be taken apart to check this. Do you have that capability?

If the tub is not broke at the neck where the crt plugs on and the pins are all still there the there is a good chance that it will still work. You realey wont know untill you try and see. some shops might have a used crt board if they have had a tv come in struck by lighting and saved the board for what parts that was still good.I know i do that a lot. Dont think I got one for a 35 inch though.

The voltage tapping is set too low for the voltage you got at home. Make sure that you check.

The only board i show there that is discontinued is the Front Control Board Assembly. There are other boards in this unit that are not listed. So I may still be able to find it for you. Are you sure that the Front Control Board is what you are looking for? Let me know.

Sony 32fs120

If this is indeed a Sony KV32FS120 then I would bet your CRT'S shadow mask is warped severley as well which will cause many rainbows in the picture once the set is up and running. Count the loss and replace the set.

Sony trinitron KV G21S2(i think)

Id you have no TV repair experience, play it safe and take the set into an authorized Sony repair place to estimate the cost to repair. Yes I know it would be nice to repair, but how much do you know about component level printed circuit board repair? You will need to first get a service manual, know how to read a circuit diagram, thats a schematic, and know how every circuit works with each other to make the TV set operate. I do appriciate the fact you would like to repair this yourself, but there is no magic fix in most cases when it comes to electronics. There is circuit diagnosise involved. Best advice would be to call in a pro to assist you in these types of repairs. Good Luck

Fuse location on tv

a fuse is a small glass tube about 3/4" to 1". it is located near the end of the power cord inside the tv. it is located in the power board supply circuit. there are several reason why fuse blew up. 1. sudden surge current/voltage in your area 2. shorted in either power supply or horizontal deflection circuits. when replacing fuse, be sure to change it with the same value. but if after replacement has been done and the fuse blew again, there is a short in the circuit as stated in reason no. 2. refer to a qualified service technician if you are not inclined with this job. good luck!

I think you may have a cold solder joint or burned loose connection somewhere in your power supply. Also maybe a crack in the circuit board. apparently when you moved the tv you "fixed" the problem temporarily. Stargazer
