I called Emerson with same problem with my 6 month old tv. They approved me to go to a Certified Service Center and I won't have to pay or wait forever to get it back! I just told them that I didn't expect to pay when it is an obvious problem that many are having and that my TV is only 6 months old.

My EWL 3706 was working fine, all the suddenthe screen went blank. I heard sound fora few minutes then lines appeared on screen vertically. The power comes on and then back off to the red light. Can this be fixed or do i need to throw it away and buy a new one?

I had the same problem. I fixed it myself with my memory. A few weeks back I re-installed the signal amplifier. It's been raining cat's & dogs for 2-3 days now. The humidity is thru the roof. The ONLY part of the TV actually failing IS the TV. I can play videos on video 1 all day without a glitch.
If you google hdtv signal amplifier, you may see that these things are not all they're cracked up to be. For your best signal, make the coax cable lengths, no more than necessary to reach the antenna or box, to the tv.
I removed the signal amplifier and have had no problems. And it's still raining. The humidity and moisture will affect electrical components that are put together as cheaply as possible.
If you have a signal amplifier, remove it and see if the problem doesn't go away.
