This help me. I had the same problem and read this post on the QVC review. I will paste it below. Pandigital and B&N need to post this solution onto their site.
Great product, Great value Posted by Nolcrest 12-27-10Date:12-27-10
4out of5"This product is exactly what I was looking for and the price was unbelievable: internet access, e-reader, color, night reading, font size ,cover, ear phones, music, pictures etc. I ordered it in purple, but honestly once it's in the cover you can't see the color. No big deal for me.Fairly easy to set up. It would have been even easier if I had read the included instructions first. Took me a little bit to get used to touch screen. That's all new for me but easy enough to get the hang of it. I didn't even need to charge it first. I was using it within minutes of taking it out of the box.Just downloaded a book from B&N. I too got a message that "book was protected" to contact B&N. While I was waiting on phone for them I looked up other customer reviews on QVC and the second one I read mentioned to logout of B&N account and log back in and re-load. I did that & within 3 mins I had my downloaded book. I am thrilled now.I have also used the user guide from QVC as well as on the e-reader but I love reading other customer reviews before I make a purchase. Thanks a million to the customer who mentioned what to do with the "protected book" message. It saved me alot of phone time w/B&N.Yes, I highly recommend this product.
