There are 2 possibilities.one is from the monitor settings..check there and the second one is check the properties of your display adapter from your computer which ussulay is shown in right click on descktop...,or in control panel.

Change screen orientation

Computer users occasionally have a need to rotate, or "flip," a monitor display to be better able to read long documents or to view pictures. Because rotating a computer screen is such a basic function, modern operating systems (Windows XP and up) include hot keys and display options that enable the user to rotate the computer screen by 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Rotating the computer screen allows for more display options. For instance, when rotated 90 degrees, a 1680x1050 monitor becomes a 1050x1680 monitor, which provides more vertical pixels than a standard display.

Windows XP/Vista Monitor Orientation
Minimize any windows or programs to the taskbar. Click the desktop. Press "CTRL" + "ALT" at the same time. Press one of the arrow keys to flip the monitor orientation by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. The left arrow rotates the computer screen 90 degrees; the down arrow rotates the computer screen 180 degrees; the right arrow rotates the computer screen 270 degrees; the up arrow resets the monitor orientation. Rotate the computer screen in Windows Vista by opening the Control Panel, searching for "Tablet PC" and changing the "Orientation" drop box to the desired rotation. b> Windows 7 Monitor Orientation b> Click the Start menu at the lower-left hand part of the screen, and open the Control Panel. Select "Display," then click "Change display settings" from the left column. When using multiple monitors, select the monitor that you would like to rotate. Click the drop box next to the "Orientation:" option. Select the desired rotation and click "Apply." Click "Keep Changes" or "Revert," depending on preference. Click "Apply" in the Display Settings window. Click "OK" to finish. Hope this helps

You need to enable the 2nd video output in the video card settings!

right click on desktop select properties and select the settings tab

Select the monitor 2, click on extend my desktop to this monitor.

Then you can drag windows either out from your main monitor, to up, down, or the sides debends on where you set the 2nd display, you can also change the position of the 2nd screen by draging it around in the middle.

Connect dual monitors

The port with 15 holes is a VGA connector and most monitors have a connection for those it's a blue connector. The other you describe sounds like a DVI connector. Most new monitors have that as well and it's a white connector.

11750867-tewsfb12kpevcqwroz5uwqx5-2-0.jpg Once you have both monitors hooked up and turned on, they should automatically come on and show your Windows desktop. You may have to tweak the resolutions if the monitors are different. That can be done in the resolutions settings : Control Panel\Display\Screen Resolution

This video, starting around the 2 minute mark, gives a good overview of those settings and what they do.
How to Windows 7 Multiple Monitor Setup

One thing he mentions that is important is that the monitors are set to the right inputs or source. Look for a button, usually on the right or bottom of the monitor, that says "source" or "input" or has a symbol of an arrow pointing at into a screen - it looks like #2 in this photo:

http://en.community.dell.com/resized-image/__size/550x0/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/3529/6354.monitor-settings.JPG

The monitor connected with the blue VGA connector usually says "VGA" or "Analog". The monitor with the white DVI connector usually says "DVI" or "Digital".

Good luck!

My computer monitor display changed from being horizontal to vertical how can I change it back?

If you have an Nvidia Graphics card then on the bottom right hand side of your task bar, next to the time, it's a green icon. A Nvidia logo is displayed. Left click on it and move your mouse over rotation settings, should be set to rotate 0 degrees.
Can also access through control panel, then Nvidia control panel, then on the left menu rotate display, set it to no rotation 0 degrees.
Please take the time to rate my expertise.
Thanks

Hp pavilion slimline s3100n doesn't display on the monitor. boots fine and fans spin and stuff, it just doesn't recognize its own VGA output. What do i do?

Hi
First, try hooking it up to an external monitor if you have access to one.Unfortunately,we need video to start checking for what may be wrong.
Try the monitor and post back to let me know what happens, and if it shows on the external display we can start looking at potential problems and fixes.

My monitor is displaying sideways on a hp montior

It sounds to me like you have Hotkeys enabled and accidently pressed them.

To rotate screen view you can do the following using the keyboard arrow keys in conjunction with pressing CTRL key and ALT key at same time:

Ctrl-Alt-Up - right side up

Ctrl-Alt-Right - 90 degrees

Ctrl-Alt-Down - 180 degrees

Ctrl-Alt-Left - 270 degrees

To locate HotKeys and disable navigate here:

Start >> Control Panel >> Display >> Settings >> Advanced

Subject to your monitor/graphics card you may need to click a few mor tabs to see HotKeys.

Hope this helps. Best Regards -md

Image on Dell 4700 Monitor has rotated 180 degrees

This should be a very fast fix.
First try pushing the Shift and Home key at the same time.
If that didn't do it,
Right click on the desktop,Click graphic properties,Click display settings,Uncheck the box "Enable rotation" and click ok.

Cant get inbuilt monitor speakers in Optima desktop pc to work

ome LCD monitors have inbuilt speakers and a headphone socket that can be very handy if, say, you're using a website that provides sound, such as the free language tutorials on http://www.bbc.co.uk. The internal speakers, of course, have to be connected to a sound card, just as external speakers have to be.

The inbuilt speakers in an LCD monitor are fine for the sound produced by websites, but if you want to use your computer to watch DVD movies, most authoratitive sources recommend the use of a separate sound system.

Most LCD monitors have an aspect ratio (see further down the page for more information on this) of 4:3, simply because the standard display resolutions (see further down the page for more information on this) such as 800X600 and 1024X768 have a height-to-width ratio of 4:3, which is what the aspect ratio is.

An aspect ratio of 4:3 is equivalent to the screen being viewed in the landscape printing orientation, and as such is ideal for dealing with documents, such as large spreadsheets, that are wider than they are high. But most document pages are best viewed in the portrait orientation, in which the height of the page is greater than its width. Therefore, some LCD monitors can be rotated through 90 degrees so that they can be viewed in the portrait orientation.

The monitors that allow rotation usually also come with the software that changes the output from the computer to match the portrait orientation of the screen. Pivot Pro is a good example of such software.

Monitor problem

I have seen this before. The computer I did this on, while holding down the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys you press one of the arrow keys to rotate the screen. Depending on the arrow key, determines how much rotation you want. This might not be the solution you want.

It is the display adapter software that does this. You will need to go to your display adapter software to get the correct key bindings. I am not talking about the "desktop display settings". If you have an nvidia graphics card then it will be the nvidia graphics adapter software that you installed. Not the driver, but the software that allows you to tweak your graphics adapter.

My advise, use that software to rotate your screen to the correct orientation, then disable those key bindings.
