F61 Error Code Panasonic SA-AK500 Audio w/ CD Exchange

I have found that others have had the same problem with this model. I am just curious as to what specific parts I can try and replace to fix the problem. I have heard it may be the voltage regulator / ics. If anyone would be generous enough to supply me with specific part numbers that would be a blessing. Poor girl, who doesn't have the money to take it to a service tech. and/or buy a new stereo! Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat sick of the darn thing turning itself off error code F61. I thought I had a good product until now! anyone with any ideas on this would be good. But looking through here seems all the panasonic models crash like this in the end.

Gotta love F61........the stereo turns on long enough to show the error code then shuts itself down. Should I consider it a junker and trash it?

What is output IC? You didn't answer the question. The error message says F61--and nothing else and power shuts off and when it's turned on you hear a loud noise. Do you know what is causing that and can this unit be fixed??

i've encountered cases that f61 code appear and i found out that the fan was defective which the sensor sense it and shuts down the unit after 3-5 mins.check the fan if it is working and if yes it is your output i.c. shuts down your unit.

Most propably the problem is a dirty socket on card number: RJB2191B which is the card on the side of the system connected to the power amp. the socket is propably CN603A but if i were you i would take all ribbon cables out clean the sockets with contact cleaner and clean also the ribbon cables. insert the cables back in the sockets respectively and check for any dry joints under the sockets,(could be the cause also), check everything is in place and switch on.
hope this helped. Roderick Bonello,15 years electronics field engineer.

I need a replacement needle for model px-e860u, where can I purchase them?

I found the following places to purchase online:

LP Tunes

LP Gear

ioffer

Anderson's Music

Many of these places also sell other parts for your turntable - a common replacement part is the drive belt. You might want to buy that too - and have it shipped at the same time.

We own a Panasonic Nitrix SC-AK330K Shelf System stereo. Our daughter accidentally bumped the sliding CD tray from underneath with her head when the tray was sticking out. Now the tray doesn't slide in...

Try to see if you can get it Fixed Locally....

Panasonic prices are pretty steep if you decide to send it in for repairs or order parts yourself and repair.

if parts still can be found since the SC-AK330K is a Discontinued Model

I need the black plastic cover with nylon mesh over it. My speakers are fine but they need the front covers!

You can usually get replacements from the manufacturer depending on the units age. If they are molded grills that are specific to that speaker only you can also try THE PARTS STORE online. You can type in the make and model of your stereo and possibly get parts there. If they are just square grills....Parts Express sells adjustable frame kits that may work or Foam covers that are held on with velcro. The last resort is ebay. Many sellers part out speaker parts and may even have another complete unit cheap with covers.

Machine 'protect' msg

his appears to be a very common problem here on the board. It means the unit has shut off the outputs because of either a bad speaker or shorted wire, or some failed part in the amplifier. If the trouble continues after you disconnect the speakers, the unit will require service to diagnose and replace the failed part(s).

I've never worked on this model, but in many brands the amplifier integrated circuit is a common failure. They are often not properly mounted for efficient cooling and burn themselves out. Another typical failure is some power supply part that is under-rated and just goes bad, and this is showing up as the protect failure.

Without a diagram and no direct experience, I can't suggest any specific action you could take, other than checking with a local shop for a repair estimate. (You might try contacting JVC on their website or by phone to see if they have any service bulletins. If something becomes a chronic issue, the manufacturer sometimes extends warranty service to cover the repair. Never hurts to ask!)

WIthout knowing the specific model, I can't be 100% sure, but a number of models in that vintage had a problem with cracked ribbin cables that go to the drawer unit. Replacing the cable usually fixed the problem. What is the specific model number?

How to do the work to fix it

Any service shop should be able to repair your machine. I don't know where you are located and am prevented by Fixya rules from pointing you to a specific referring you to a specific servicer. This type of problem is common and should not be difficult for anyone with experience. If you can provide me with the specific model, I should be able to list the probable defective parts.

ther audio amp ic is bad & needs to be replaced. mini systems are hard to work on because everything is so compact in the unit. if you can work on electronics, you will find the ic screwed to a big heatsing in the unit. on the ic will be stamped a number. the number is the part number you will need to get. get the exact same number. could be like "stk XXX" or could other letters/numbers. also check for an open fuse. sometimes the fuse goes when the ic goes bad. good luck.
