Condensor freezing up

We had to turn off the power at our house.  We switched it right back on and the refridgerator condensor froze up and it broke, needing to be replaced. $$$$$$$ We've got to do some electrical work next week and I'm afraid to turn of the power because it might happen again?  Is there a procedure  for turning off the power as to avoid damaging the fridge? Thanks for your input

if at al your SET is a very old one use a power stablizer..

but i dont think there is anything to do with the freezing of condenser and power OFF and ON.. its some malfunction inside the machine.

so dont worry. trust me my friend.

hi there

what you want to do is manually sever the line of the condenser going to the main line so that you wont have to turn the whole house down. you may want also to have an electrician do that for you..safety reasons...

When thats done, you can either have the fridge serviced because you have to replace the broken part and have it also cleaned.

hope this helps

Admiral Model AT17M6W - Temp Control Knob Stuck - Now I Broke It?

you will have to take the inside panel off the door to get to the back of the switch..Inspect it closely for sharp edges as all should be smooth on the swtiching mechignism.. if its broken remove the out part of the switch and see if you can turn the temp switch inter control shaft either way...if it keeps spinning then you'll have to replace the entire swtich(ording parts) if it doesnt spinn freely then plut the inner pannel back on but with the swtich house off so the dial rod sticks out...Kind of **** but it would work!!! hope this was helpfull:)

Top of Bard wall mount unit froze up

The most likely problem is a dirty filter or evap coil. (the coil behind the filter)

The thermostat is extremely unlikely. (nigh to impossible)
Same with a "condensor sensor"

It could be low refridgerant.

it could be a malfunctioning blower motor.

Chances are its a dirty filter/coil.

GE Side By Side refrigerator evaporator freezing up

There is a pc board that senses how long the condensor motor has been running and when it gets to a certain amount of time it turns off the refridgerator condensor and turns on the heater coil that melts any ice formed on the condensor coils untill a temperature sensor says enough then it allows the condensor motor to run again. The problem is definitely in this board which is a common problem with Whirlpool and related brands. This board is about 50 to 75 dollars and can be easily replaced.

Air conditioner not working

the outside condesor unit is not coming on for a number of possible reasons. First check your breakers for a tripped breaker, even if they appear on, turn the ac breakers off and then turn them back on. if after this, turn on the thermostat, outside you should here the contact switch on the condensor unit humming. if still no power, check for any breaks on your wires going in from the house, still nothing give a call back

Kenmore Dehumidifier won't turn on

The following statement is a parameter for all dehumidifiers and some of the control issues may vary, but the theory is the same.

Most dehumidifiers have a "Frost Guard" mounted on the condensor coil. If frost accumulates on the condensor coil the frost guard turns the compressor off until the frost melts, then comes back on again. For the dehumidifier to work properly, the surrounding (ambient), temperature must be higher than 65 degress. This temperature allows the moisture in the air to condense on the coils and drip into the reservoir without freezing up on the condensor coil. Also, if the humidity is too low, (below 45%), the same condition will occur. So it will help to keep the parameters in mind when you have this issue.

Thank you for your allowing me to advise you on this issue.
