Whirlpool microwave, intermittent blower activity, shuts down microwave
Whirlpool above-range microwave, model MH1160SXQ0, about a year from new: When heat rises from range below, or when microwave produces enough heat, the blower kicks on, off, on, off intermittently. Microwave may or may NOT be in use when this happens; if in use when blower kicks on, microwave immediately stops heating, (shuts off,) and flashes message to call for service. Becomes unusable until area cools down.
Appreciate your help. Claude
Not clear what to explain but would look at the front control switches, commond problem, to see just play with the door open and closing to see what happen's with the fan, it's probroly not making proper contact, the other problem I can thing of is bad thermal heat sensor, there should be two or three of them, you need to know the basic what they do to test them just jump them, and try the unit and see if the problem stop to see witch termal is deffective.

Sounds like the pads that you push on the touch panel are stuck, will probably have to replace the whole touch panel. On units installed over the oven, they typically plug into an outlet in the cabinet above the microwave. if not, try flipping your circuit breakers until you find the one that shuts off the Microwave.
Fixed this problem! The door latches were greasy and sticking in the closed position (i.e., pushed down so not latching and engaging fully when the door was closed) and this created the problems described above. Solution was to squirt some Windex into the latch holes to dissolve the grease. The switches popped back into position (must be spring-loaded) and the door closed and latched properly, allowing the oven to function properly. I swabbed out the hole with a q-tip, let it dry for 20 minutes and all is well.
The microwave has a safety door switches (2-3 micro switches)
The door mechanism should hit these micro switches. If you can open the machine, you can see that these micro switch has a holder that you can adjust and tighten to make sure that the hook of the door should activate them.
determined from whirlpool that the f2 display is from the control circuit board. the board's problem is intermittent and needs eventually replacing. not covered by warranty. determined that whirlpool has reduced the warranty for the electronic circuits in its appliances from 5 to 1 year. this is great for consumer confidence in whirlpool. have had trouble with 2 other new whirlpool appliances. probably will not buy another whirlpool appliance.
