Setup of municipal wifi

I have a belkin f5d7230-4 wireless g router, and when i type in '192.168.2.2' in the address bar, it asks me for the user name and password. i'm pretty sure my son reset those values, but he doesn't remember. i've tried the defaults [belkin and admin, and admin for the password], but it tells me i'm not authorized to view this page. how can i either reset or find the user name and password?- and is that even necessary to log in- my area is wifi ready, and i have an active account with earthlink, which happens to be the provider for the municipal wifi in my area [philadelphia, pa] HELP!!!, please!
thank you, david small

It sounds like you'll need to reset the router to factory defaults, here's how to do this:
With the router powered on, press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds, this will restore the router to factory default.

Note: By default the password on the router is left blank, and the
default IP address is 192.168.2.1

Hope this helps!

My Friend,
You can follow these steps to setup a wireless password.
>Connect your computer with a Ethernet cable to Slot number 1 on the router.(please don't connect to the internet port.) Just go to command prompt on your computer by typing CMD on RUN. >Type Ipconfig there and then you have to look for ipv4 address. >In this address search for the default gateway on the computer. >Type the address in the default gateway into the address bar on the browser. > Then this will ask you for the user name and password . Leave username blank and in password type admin. You will see the router set-up page . Go to the wireless tab and below that you will see wireless security tab. There you can name your network by changing name under ssid. And select the security type as WEP OR WPA. create the password fro you wireless . click on the save settings.
Hope this will help you.

How do I rename my network on a Belkin router

Please open the configuration page of your router by typing your router's IP address on a browser's address bar. Router's IP address is the default gateway when you check the IP address on the command prompt. As soon as you are on the login page, type the user name and password. Look for the wireless settings tab. SSID is the router's wireless network name. Replace the SSID of the name you want for your wireless network and apply the changes.
