Question about Panasonic KX-TG2000 Cordless Phone
When I am on the main incoming line of our phone system and another call comes in on the roll-over line, it will not allow me to put the original call on hold and pick up the incoming call. The line goes dead - but with no dial tone, I am able to pick up the line if I end my existing call, let the 2nd call ring through and then pick up. It started doing it suddenly and I can't seem to get it to its original operation. Help! Its frustrating both my clients and myself!

SOURCE: Incoming Call not Ringing
Either call line 3 first, or make your phone ring :-)
What might be the easiest is to swap modular plugs in the back room between 2 and 5. That way, you get your old extension back and everything will work as it did.
If you can't do that, then you're going to have to do some system programming to turn on the ringing on your phone. If you have a TA series system, you should be able to do it from either the PC or a phone connected to jack $1. If you have another model, you should have a system manual on how do make programming changes.

SOURCE: Picking up a call
A couple of things to try. First, walk up to the phone that's ringing and dial 720# on the intercom. They may have set Call Pickup Deny (by dialing 721) and this will clear it.
If that doesn't work, you may have fallen out of the pickup group. You can test this by using the Directed Call Pickup code which is 4 + the ringing extension number.
If that works, but 40 doesn't, there's some programming(system prog 600) that needs to be examined. By default though, each phone is in pickup group 1.

Oh hell... you must be going nuts if its the ring tone I think you're stuck with. I loath the manual that comes with this system so here it is in English:
