Goodman furnace new in 07 flashed three codes..It was frosted and iced over at intake and exhaust out side of house. Have had a lot of sub zero weather. Also tell them where to look inside of the peep hole on bottom to see the Red LED lite. Don't know how to post but the info could help a lot of people. Just a retired Maint. tech. Thanks

Goodman furnace wont come on

If this is a High Eff furnace:
1) Remove the compartment that has the igniter and burners, turn the
power back on, if the furnace lites then you have a problem with the
intake air vent, probably iced over if you live where its cold.

2)Make sure the exhaust vent is not getting backpressure from the
wind.

3) you could cut the pipes on the inside of the house to disconnect them from the furnace, test run the furnace with no pipes. If the furnace
runs then you have a problem with the installation of the vent pipes.

4) Do not run the furnace without the exhaust pipe disconnected,
go to the hardware store and get a couple of rubber clamped
couplings and hook-up the exhaust pipe!

Good Luck

Air intake frosts up clogging air intake in extreme cold temps

It may be sucking in moisture from the exhaust. If you can, elbow it away from the exhaust vent.

My Goodman High efficiency furnace stopped working and I getting 3 flashes from the red light in the viewing window. I know that this is a malfunction code but I can't find out what it means. Can you help?

On the panel with the wiring diagram, there is an error code chart. I think 3 flashes is a pressure switch problem. Check your air filter, condensate pump or hoses. Check the small hoses going to the pressure switch, check your air intake and exhaust vents. Remove any moisture or debris. Make sure all venting pitches back to the heating system and no low spots are holding water.

Heat not coming on carrier gas pack code 31

code 31 indicates pressure switch did not close or reopened during the heat cycle....1st thing to check is the inducer motor,,this is a small motor that turns a small blower wheel that draws the exhaust gases through the furnace and blows them into the vent pipe....1st locate the inducer assembly,,most easily identified by the small plastic fan blade that cools the inducer motor as it runs..1st turn off tstat and turn off furnace power switch..then turn on furnace switch, then set tstat to heat, set the temp above room temp by 5 degrees...remove the furnace front cover, locate the inducer motor,,if it isnt turning, but is warm or hot after a minute or so,likely the inducer motor is bad..if it isnt turning and isnt warm after 1 minute, then likely the main control board is bad,,not turning the inducer motor when it should,,,,,if the inducer motor is running,,then the pressure switch isnt closing,, could be a bad pressure switch but more likely there is a problem with the venting...some possible problems that would cause the pressure switch not to close in an 80% eff furnace [metal vent pipe] are: [1] a blockage in the vent pipe, base of chimney, dead bird at the furnace where vent connects to furnace or down inside the inducer assy, accessed by removing vent pipe from furnace....if all clear the chimney could be blocked up inside,,is the draft good when vent is removed from base of chimney?..if furnace is a 90%+ type [pvc plastic vent pipe],,then check the intake pipe at the furnace by removing it where it attaches to top of furnace..is the intake clogged with anything?..then check the intake and exhaust pipes outside for blockages,,including ice/frost/snow at the exhaust pipe outlet..

Furnace code light flashes 3 times /pressure switch stuck open

Check the intake and exhaust plumbing for any obstructions. I had same issue, turned out to be ice in the air intake plumbing on outside of house. This may be the problem. The pressure switch can be tested by pulling hose from purge motor that goes to switch and applying a small amount of suction. The switch should make a clicking sound.

Goodman GMS90904CXA Wont ignite, light blinks 3 times

Ok, you either have a inducer fan issue or a pressure switch issue or a plugged vent pipe. The inducer turns on to establish a draft for the exhaust. If it is not working you will get this error code. If the pressure switch does not sense pressure caused by the inducer, it will give this code. If either the intake pipe or exhaust pipe is blocked (even y just a little) it will give you the same error code. If the condensate hose or receptical is plugged, again it will give you this error code. Good Luck!
