I am having the same problem. The scanner worked perfectly for a year and now all of a sudden I am getting the error message "Epson Scan cannot be started". I've tried reloading the software but nothing is solving the problem. Any advice?

I need to scan A document using an epson RX425 printer how do I do it #

It depends somewhat on your OS and the software installed you have installed. With a Automatic Document Feed, the pages need to be face up and the top edge forward in the feeder. On the glass platen, put the documents face down.

Open a TWAIN-compliant scanning application (XP, Vista and Win7 all have Paint which can acquire scans). Vista and Win7 also have Windows Fax and Scan. If you installed other software (such as that which came with the scanner), you would use that - Epson Smart Panel or ArcSoft Photo Impressions. Next open Epson Scan (this doesn't work with the Mac software so look at epson.com for Mac info). This runs the scan (and any specific resolution adjustments you make). It will generally launch when you hit Scan in the application. You can run Epson Scan alone if you do not want to edit the documents right away. Click Start > All Programs > Epson Scan > Epson Scan to use Epson Scan. In the Epson Smart Panel, you would click Scan and Save to start scanning or Scan with Options to adjust the settings prior to scanning.

If the Epson Smart Panel is installed and set up for it (including having a monitor running), you can also initiate scans from the scan button on the unit. Scan problems most often occur when there is a block in two-way communication. Try a new data cable and a different port. If you have a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection. The cable should be under 6' long for best results.

I hope this helps.

Can't get r300 to work with new iMac w/snow leopard despite downloading newest Mac drivers from Epson. Printer prints but I have no options, paper type, quality, color adjustments etc., only paper size and...

I hate to say this but I doubt very much if you will find that the option to get those advanced features will ever be available.

Epson and all other hardware vendors will provide very little driver support for old-ish printers much less the really old models, which for the R300 would definitely apply.

Unfortunately I do not have direct Mac experience but there seems to be plenty of other people in the same boat and I expect to see the same problems with Windows 7..

Sorry I couldn't be of more help at this point...

Epson scanner 1240U

needle3000:  The Epson "Perfection" 1240U Scanner won't work with Mac OS X 10.4.11 possibly due to the program it is being run from. Like you, I had the same problem: it wasn't being recognized. Epson's drivers installed and ran correctly. Scanner even appeared under Bus in USB Device Tree in System Profile. Finally, I discovered that the Scanner runs if opened directly from EPSON Scan.app under Applications. The problem, in my case, was my ancient version of Photoshop (5.5.) from which I was running it.
 Hope that helps!

Scanning from Canon MP530 to Mac Powerbook

If you;ve installed the MP Navigator software from the CD, then you should be able to press the scan button on the printer with your Mac connected and the MP navigator will open automatically on your Mac ready to scan. You can also try going into Preview (the Mac app) and from the file menu select Import... and it should open a scan window.  Hope this helps!
