I have no signal on the screen, but does through the vga port. what it could be?

Check the choosen video input on the monitor to match the used one. Check the video cable for bended pins. Check with other monitor if there is a signal from the videocard. Check if you have connected the monitor to the right video connector, I mean, if your motherboard has integrated internal video and also there is another videocard, usually there is no signal on the internal one. Check the monitor with another computer to see if the problem is with the monitor. If the monitor is faulty, open it and check for inflated capacitors on the power supply board. Replace all of them if so. Check the buffer transistors between the video connector and the processor on the signal processing board.

NO video input philips 180p1

Hello there:
This normally means that the cable that goes to the computer from the monitor is not getting any signal from the video card
This is due to a couple of possible problems
the graphics card is not compatible with the monitor
Or the graphics card is faulty or dirty and needs to be removed and cleaned with rubbing alcohol and than reinstalled
I would first try this on a different computer to see if the monitor now works if so han you know you have a graphis card problem but if it does not work than you know that the monitor is the one with the problem
It may have a faulty controle circuit on it and needs to be serviced or jut simply replaced ok
If you do take the video card out of the computer Unplug the power supply to the computer than remove the power supply cord to the mother board and press in on the power button for 1 minute this will release any esd (electrical static dicharge) that is built up during operation than attach it back on the mother board and continue to remove the graphics card and make the replace ment or repairs needed ok
I hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards michael

No signal

Do you have both the 24 pin plug & the 4 or 8 pin plug, depending on board, plugged into the proper places? The 4 pin plug is what powers the pci-e x16 slot. On some newer boards it will be an 8 pin plug rather than a 4. It should be clearly marked on the mb in small print. Hope this helps.

Distorted Picture

I don't think that the cable is your problem. Set may have a defective tuner or small signal board. (Tuner is soldered onto the small signal board).

Most likely fix is to find and replace the small signal board with tuner. Should be able to find one for less than $200.

Another thing to try is your video inputs. Use external devices such as a DVD play hooked you using proper video lines and check you inputs. Are they doing the same thing as your cable? If not, then it maybe just a tuner. Some makes and models won't allow you to solder in a new tuner without a full board replacement, but this however may allow you to hookup a VCR with a tuner built in and from VCR to your TV using video input jacks and then programming the VCR tuner to all your cable channels may get your set watchable again without having to tare it apart and replacing a board. However if your input jacks are distorting like the cable channels are, then a small signal board replacement is a must for your set.

Good luck!
