Hello,
If you are sure that you have tried with a working monitor, then it means that even though you can see the fan working, the PC is not actually booting. Now try changing the memory with a working one. If the problem persists, try replacing your video card with a working one. You should be okay.

If not, then you would have to go further to check your processor and then the main board if necessary. All the best.

Your system might have been corrupted or you have a damaged boot record, can you try booting into safe mode? or you should check if your devices has been detected to ensure that theres no problem with the memory itself.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

I recently downloaded two optional updates for Startup Windows 7 onto my ASUS EeePC 1005. Following download I was requested to restart my PC to complete the installation. Upon restart, I had no display...

Try starting the PC in safe mode (press F8 as it starts) and then restore your PC to a date before you installed the updates. If that fails you must use your windows 7 disk to repair the system or just install it again.....

This sucks, all you have to do is push ALT F10 and then go through the reseting menu, you will loose everything on there though except the original data.

T5082 keeps abruptly shutting down

Sounds like it may be overheating. If you get warning beeps on startup that sounds high, low, high low, it is overheating. you should inspect and clean the fan on the processor with a vacuum or compressed air ans also clean the power supply area with a vacuum to clear all the dust out. Inspect and wipe any other dust away from the motherboard and card inside. After restarting, it still goes off, check that the fan is running during startup. If not, the fan needs to be replaced at a nominal cost. This is an easy fix. If this all fails, let me know so we can troubleshoot everything together.
