Question about Toshiba Satellite A135 Notebook

Flashing off and back on

About 30 to 45 seconds after I boot up my A135-s4467 the screen goes black or off for an instant, comes back on and immediately goes off for an instant and back on. Then everything is ok. Why is it doing this?
Thanks,
Jack

Hi,

This could probably be attributed to:
1. the screen/display automuted when the OS takes over from the BIOS since at the very start, it is the BIOS that the controls the video display;
2. the screen refreshing when the OS has loaded its video driver. There is a bit of lag before end of refresh since simultaneously all other drivers are being loaded.

You can verify this by booting into Safe Mode. You will notice that:
a. the first blank is before Windows logo and
b. the second (longer) blank is after the video driver before the GUI.

Kind regards.

    Hi again,

Additionally you may have additional new programs and even perhaps a virus or malicious software that increases loading time and adds up to the lag of drivers (including video) loading period.

    Cheers.

Sounds like perhaps you are experiencing the beginnings of a failure mode for laptops, where the LCD/screen connections are starting to give it up. I have a Sony with a similar issue, and I leave it permanently open, instead of jockeying with the screen to stay on. Sooner or later, that screen MAY need to be replaced. Not quite sure what causes it, but what cures it is a new LCD with ribbon cables included. Not cheap either. I'll bet it still works with external monitor, right?

Got backup?

Model is Satellite A135-S4727. Boots up in safe mode, but black screen when I try to do anything from there. I removed the battery and went to ac. Screen when booting works and I see the that it is...

when it goes to the black screen give it a few seconds after the mouse shows up. Ctrl+Alt+Del and select task manager, then select the process tab. click on explorer, then right click on it and select end process from the pop up menu. once it has disappeared go back to the first tab programs. click new task, type explorer and hit enter. see where it gets you from there. if that doesnt help please recover your computer per manufacture instructions.

Toshiba Satellie A135-S4467 is not turning on

If they tested the PSU,power and found it to be working, and they
put your memory into another laptop and it worked

I would say it is your processor, most times people forget these cool from the bottom and they set them on places that they can't keep themselves cool and overheat.

If it was be, I would buy a used processor on ebay that was guaranteed to work, before buy a mobo,

Buy check the pice of both and see if its just better to buy new, with the advancement of processors, prices have dropped.

Toshiba A135-S4467 runs in safe mode but not normal (Vista)

Hi there,
The fact it starts in safe mode (which means it loads the basics for the pc to run and thats it) would indicate to me that there is something running in the backround at normal boot and also your cpu has a panic attack. Just wondering did this pc come with this version of windows or is it one you downloaded and installed yourself?? If its one you downloaded yourself (which it sounds like) get rid of it, because it is probs corrupted. Get another copy of it or to be quite honest I would get windows 7. Its better ,faster, and a lot less **** runs on it...The fact you changed your hard drive and still have the same problem it sounds like the copy of windows you have...Hope this helps...

Sounds like a bad motherboard if the system just failed and now you can get nothing to happen. One way to check this is to take a monitor from a desktop and plug it into your computer and power on your computer and see if anything happens if nothing happens then replace your motherboard
