I have a 1996 Acura 3.5 R.L. just put a new fuel pump in and it won't start. It turns over, but will not stay started.

Check your main fuel relay.

Fuel Supply System

PGM-FI Main Relay

Description

This PGM-FI main relay is located behind the dashboard

lower cover. The PGM-FI main relay actually contains

two individual relays. One relay is energized whenever

the ignition is on. It supplies battery voltage to the PCM,

power to the fuel injectors, and power for the second

relay. The second relay is energized for 2 seconds when

the ignition is switched on, and when the engine is running.

It supplies power to the fuel pump.

Relay Testing

NOTE: If the engine starts and continues to run, the PGMFI

main relay is OK.

1. Remove the PGM-FI main relay.

2. Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 3*

terminal and the battery negative terminal to the

No. 2* terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then

check for continuity between the No. 5* terminal and

No. 2 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.

• If there is continuity, go on to step 3.

• If there is no continuity, replace the relay and

retest.

3. Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 4 terminal

and the battery negative terminal to the No.

7* terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check

that there is continuity between the No. 3 terminal

and No. 1 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.

• If there is continuity, go on to step 4.

• If there is no continuity, replace the relay and

retest.

4. Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 1 terminal

and battery negative terminal to the No. 2*

terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check that

there is continuity between the No. 5* terminal and

No. 2 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.

• If there is continuity, the relay is OK;

If the fuel pump still does not work, go to Harness

Testing on the next page.

• If there is no continuity, replace the relay and

retest.

If the engine starts and continues to run, the PGM-FI relay is working and does not need to be replaced.

  1. Remove the relay.
  2. Apply battery voltage to the number three terminal.
  3. Ground the number two terminal.
  4. Check for continuity between terminals five and two.
  5. If continuity is detected, proceed to the step 7.
  6. If there is no continuity, replace the relay.
  7. Connect the number four terminal to the positive side of the battery.
  8. Ground the number two terminal of the relay.
  9. Check for continuity between the number five terminal and the number two terminal of the relay.
  10. If there is continuity, the relay checks out "OK". If the fuel pump still does not work, test the harness.
  11. If there is no continuity, replace the relay and retest.

Java programming

There are 2000 jpeg libraries in Java out there, easily searchable on search engines, sourceforge, maybe versiontracker, and secondly, you're asking for (what should be application-specific -output-; why would you hobble input) crop/resize without hinting at your algorithm? First, get a real programmer....

Java project for college applications? Gee, how about one to take a personality inventory (the INTJ type; only padded out) including areas of interest and make people little public/private spot codes (2D barcodes, like the ones in Japanese magazines) to indicate their type. The camera in a cellphone with J2ME can read the codes, maybe.... The cool part is that they're coupled with either P3P in wikis or java applets that help communicate with that person if you're an type that would otherwise take bothersome human care and preface to communicate.
There are all kinds of little systems you can build to thwart the draggy bits of Alzheimers' etc. with various little expert systems, that come up when you read a science journal (Nature, Science, Dr. Dobb's Journal, JAMA, JVNA....
You could invent something other than big-headed anime characters to add a personal visual reference to GUIs; emobots were cool, but maybe you can have a **** Cheney's Hands IM environment if it doesn't already exist (see also: Galludet University (for deaf students) stuff.)

Raidoshack 1000 channel scanner

The frequencies probably aren't the same, so you're gonna have to do a little research, but hope this helps.

  1. Turn the scanner off and then back on.
  2. The first thing we'll do is clear all of the frequencies in the bank you'll use to listen to Gwinnett County.
  3. Press the black F button, then press 0, then press the F button again, then press CL, and then press the 1 button.
  4. Enter 000 and then press PGM to enter programming mode starting at channel 0. On the display the P on the left of the first line of the display says you're in programming mode, and the 000 indicates your looking at channel 0.
  5. Press the orange T button to enter trunking mode.
  6. Press the MODE button until Motorola is displayed on line 2 of the display.
  7. Press the PGM button again to begin entering frequencies. You'll enter 24 frequencies total. If you make a mistake while entering a frequency you can press the CL button to delete the last number entered. If you accidently press the PGM button twice while entering frequencies you can press the down arrow to back-up to the previous location.
  8. Enter the first frequency, 854.78750, then press ENT and then press PGM to go to the next channel.
  9. Repeat step #8 for the rest of the frequencies 854.81250, 854.83750, 855.31250, 855.48750, 855.76250, 855.78750, 855.81250, 856.81250, 856.83750, 856.91250, 857.81250, 857.83750, 857.91250, 858.78750, 858.81250, 866.13750, 866.21250, 866.38750, 867.33750, 867.38750, 867.96250, 868.11250, 868.13750, 868.48750.
  10. To double-check that you entered all of the frequencies correctly enter 0 and then the PGM button to go back to the first frequency entered.
  11. Press PGM to go through all 24 frequencies, if you see a mistake enter the correct frequency and then press ENT to save it, continue pressing PGM until you have verified all 24 frequencies.
  12. Next press 0 and then PGM to go back to the first frequency again.
  13. Press the MODE button until you see MO following the channel number on the first line of the display (P000 for example). After MO is displayed press PGM to go to the next frequency.
  14. Repeat step #13 for each of the 24 frequencies.

Clock adjustment

Turn system off. On remote press the MEM/PGM button. The hour will blink. Use the tuning buttons on either the remote or system to advance or reverse the hour. Press the MEM/PGM button again to make minutes start to blink. Again, use tuning buttons to advance or reverse as needed. Press PGM/MEM button one last time to finish the process.

Really, could this be any less intuitive?

Hope this helps people out. :-)
