Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T1 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Faulty Lens? Sometimes when looking through the LCD screen the colours appear blended, overlapping and blotchy which makes it difficult to get a clear view of the item to be photographed. upon turning on (sliding open lense cover) screen view is distorted, "stretched", and item to be photographed is almost unidentifiable. Camera operates but pictures taken are "stretched" and distorted. However, stored pictures can be retrieved and are normal. Any advice?

the lcd on my T1 now has those stripes and you can`t identify objects that easy any more and pics come out all funny shaped.one unusual thing I can see is that when I press the SHOT button while zoom gets focused its the code at the bottom of the screen flashing

    "40 F3.5" and it goes to "30 F3.5".

tried to update the software but for some reason I cant get the camera to open/accept the update.

please advise if anyone have a solution.

Dear Swetnam

This is a internal circuit problem/defect and cannot be done on our own, so u should take it to SONY service centre. Avoid keeping the camera near hot temperatures zone. Sony is not tolerant to many physical factors.

Washed out colour on d 5100 images

If the colors are washed out on the LCD screen but appear OK on your computer, the problem is likely with the LCD itself.

If the color is washed out in both the LCD screen and on your computer, you can try adjusting menu settings to intensify the color on the images. Also, you might want to reset the camera to its default settings. I can do that on my D-90 by simultaneously holding down the "AF" and "+/-" buttons on the top right hand side of the camera. Holding down those buttons for about ten seconds will restore the default settings.

If these steps don't help, return the camera to the seller for a replacement.

Dear fregal,
Take your camera to a nikon service point and get the LCD replaced. There is no other option. The LCD is definitely faulty.

Image has lines and pink in colour

This maybe two problems, the pink color hue in the picture and lines from lens shutter problems. Your LCD is still good. You have to replace motherboard and lens.

When i try to turn my camera on it sounds like its going to turn on but it stops and gives me the message on the screen Lens error 111. then it shuts off. I've been messing with it and i can get it to...

Often times a lens error comes up when the lens extension/focus mechanism has been jammed. It may almost fully function, but then the gears run into a small spot where those tiny gears are jammed, broken, have debris on them, etc. When the motor hits unexpected resistance, the camera kicks back the lens error code and shuts down before it does further damage to itself. Make sure there isn't anything wedged between where the pieces of the lens slide past each other. Past that, the best solution I can offer is to look on ebay... most cameras either die because the lens mechanism breaks, or because the LCD screen breaks. If you can find a donor camera with a bad screen, you can combine the best of both at a pretty reasonable price. These cameras are quite complicated to transplant, but fortunately most lens mechanisms and sensors are a full unit of themselves, and so are the lcd screens. Before investing in the donor camera, take yours apart and see how difficult it appears to be to work on it. Then make your decision. Good luck!

Blue vertical line on LCD screen

Thus meaning what display on the LCD is exactly what "enters" through the lens. Is this a hairline or thick line appearing on the LCD and does the same happen on the photos/pictures when they are downloaded on a PC? If so "something" could have infiltrated into/onto the camera lens....

This sounds like a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Black LCD Screen

Faulty main or secondary board. Could also be faulty light sensor or iris. Not a user fixable problem unless you can get another f601 with a broken lens etc with good boards (to replace boards). Or a dead camera with good lens assembly (contains iris).
Very fiddly if you have the parts!!!!!!

Best advise is to sell it as faulty on ebay.
