Wt happens when you try to install the sound driver?
Are you getting any error msg on the screen?
If yes, pls try to install it in safe mode.
If you are etrying to install it from a cd/dvd and it is not working, try downloading the latest driver from the manufacturer website and then install it on the computer.
Also pls make sure tht you are using the administrator account while installing the driver.
Hope this helps!!!!!!!

One problem i have seen in my pc too is that when you install new window is in the device manager which by default keeps your sound card disabled ...
to solve this go to MY COMPUTER then right click and choose properties ...
in the hardware section u will find device manager tab...
click it ..
there in the system devices option you'll find an option namely "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio"
see whether that contains a down arrow symbol with the icon ... if the down symbol is there it means that your sound card is disabled .... to enable it simply right click the option and select enable....
voila !!! your sound card is now enabled ... now install the sound drivers from the cd you might be having or find suitable driver on the internet....
hope this solves the problem...

If simply installing the driver software will not work for your sound card, one option I have seen is to go into Device Manager and tell Windows what sound card your PC is using. Simply right click the My Computer icon on your desktop, select the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager icon.
If the sound card has not been installed properly, it will appear under "Other Devices" and will likely say "PCI Multimedia Device." You would then right-click this, click properties, then "Update Driver." It will prompt you where to look for the files, instead tell it that you will pick the device yourself. Then select sound card, select the brand of the sound card on the right, then the model number on the left.
