I formated my opal like an expert told me.The format doesn't work, because I format ,then I check if it is okay and it says,"boot error please format unit." then I do it bunch of more times and it doesn't work.Itry to put music and pictures and it seems like it works but, it doesn't.
Try formatting it in FAT 32 or FAT 16, the player sometimes can't read a different filesystem. If that doesn't work, try upgrading the MP3 firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/) Follow the steps carefully or you can render your player useless. After the upgrade, the update program will format the player automatically with the correct filesystem.

your boot file is corrupt so it wont boot u will need to use a computer to format it. plug the mp3 player into ur computer go to my computer right click the mp3 player and select format. Format will wipe everything off ur mp3 player
The Opal has a reset hole on the back of the unit in which a toothpick (non metallic) can be inserted to reboot the player. If this does not work, I suggest that you reformat the player by using the WindowsTM format command on the unit. To reformat the memory
Right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window
Select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device.
