Hi, please help. I need the Vista Dirver(s) for my Sonar 4 Producer Edition (Cakewalk) program. I have this older version which I am quite familiar with and do not want to upgrade at this stage. However, I need the Vista driver(s) for this software as I now work on the latest Vista platform. Where would I be able to find these driver(s)? I will be very glad I you could help me. Kind regards. Anton
I looked all over the Cakewalk website and could find no info pertaining to using sonar 4 with Vista, however I did find a link to e-mail there tech support it is free and they claim a 48 hour responce time here is the link http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/SONAR/SR4.asp

1.your software may not be compatible with the Windows 7 and will have to be run in the compatibility mode for Windows Vista. Check the compatibility mode for the Vista to install your "craft studio"cd it may not be compatible with Vista and can only run in XP mode or Windows 98.
here is the instruction from Microsoft to use the compatibility mode in Windows Vista:
Turn the security software off and check.
2. force the global DNS server - network connections- lan - tcp.ip propertys - advanced. underprefered dns enter - 220.127.116.11 and alternate dns enter : 18.104.22.168 .
3. try with new use acconut .
The stuttering is caused by excessive CPU usage, in other words: you have too little CPU power to play the file with the inserted synth smoothly. You could try inserting a different synth or play with the rendering-options of the synth (like disabling aliasing, etc.) or increase the audio buffer size (under audio options ?), but the only longterm solution is upgrading to a much faster computer.
Even when you find some tweak which lets you play the file (just) smoothly, adding another effect or synth is likely to cause it to stutter again, since your computer doesn't meet the official (!) minimal requirements for running Cakewalk Sonar 6, which is at least a Pentium 4 1.3GHz computer (and you have a 1.0GHz computer).
I would recommend upgrading your computer to something which at least meets the "recommend requirements" of Cakewalk Sonar 6, which is a Pentium 4 2.8GHz or newer (like any Intel Core 2 system), when you're serious about composing music.
As I see Sonar 4 has compatibility issues with Windows Vista. Is suggest tu update to a better version
Also you can try compatibility mode doing right click - properties , set compatibility to windows xp
I have tried using different program for recording. It does work for some time but time came when I have also problem met with it. So I uninstall it after clearing all folders etc in program files and in Control Panel, I tried to re install it. PRESTO! it worked with that fine. Try unistalling if you have the isntaller with you and the Key product.
