REDUCING THE BRIGHTNESS USING THE BUTTONS ON THE MONITOR DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. MY MONITOR IS DISPLAYING A HIGH BRIGHTNESS WITH RED GREEN AND BLUE BANDS RUNNING ACROSS THE SCREEN HORIZONTALLY SLOPING TOWARDS THE LEFT. I SUSPECT THE TUBE IS DAMAGED? OR A COMPONENT WHICH IS USED FOR TUBE FOCUSING OR CONTROL ON THE REAR OF THE PICTURE TUBE IS DEFECTIVE.HOPE SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM IF THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED IT BEFORE.

HOW TO SET BRIGHTNESS OF THE SCREEN?

Hi,

Dear User...

You can adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor to improve the readability of text and to make digital pictures appear more like they'll look when printed.

To improve the results when adjusting the brightness and contrast settings for your display, use Display Color Calibration. (Display Color Calibration helps you adjust these color settings and others.) For more information about calibrating your display color in Windows, see Calibrate your display.

The way you adjust brightness and contrast varies and depends on your specific display.

Brightness and contrast buttons on the front of the monitor. Some monitors have brightness and contrast controls on the front and use the standard symbols shown in the following image.

On-screen menu. You can change the brightness and contrast settings for some displays by using an on-screen menu, and then setting the brightness and contrast in the resulting menu. Many times, you can view the on-screen menu by pressing a button-possibly labeled Menu-on the front of the monitor.

Thanks....

hello, please make sure the magicbrite option is not set to "dynamic contrast" as this will change the contrast levels by itself, change the settings by pressing the down arrow touch key on the monitor, change it to any other setting, game mode is blinding on my one (when the monitor works, but thats another story!!!) good luck with samsung customer care centre 0870SAMSUNG (uk)

Your first step in troubleshooting this problem is to plug in another monitor to your computer. If you are having the same problem it is related to your computer. If the second monitor works fine then your original monitor is shot.
