I have a SanDisk SDMX1 MP3 1GB. When i plug in the USB cable to the computer the drive does not show in 'my computer'.
However in the device manager the device is showing active, enabled with no conflicts.
When i uninstall/reinstall the device from devicer manager, it pops up saying the device has been identified and installed, but is still not showing in as a drive in 'my computer'
I have tried differing ports/cables. I have used the device and it works fine in another computer.
Does anyone have any idea how this problem might be rectified

When you connect the MP3 player to yourcomputer with the supplied USB cable then computer detects the player as anexternal storage device or a Removable disk, you can then view the folder onyour MP3 player. Open the music folder and create a new folder on the playerexactly the same way you create a folder on your computer's hard drive. Toorganise your music, make a folder name with the name of the music album andplace the album's MP3 files in this folder, then copy the mp3 files from thecomputer into this folder. You will then be able to select the music you want to play by the music albumfolder. To delete a filefrom your MP3 player, connect the supplied USB cable to your player and thenplug it into the USB port of your computer. The computer will detect your player then click on this device to view thefiles, you can then click on the music file to highlight the file and thenpress the Del key to delete the file off your MP3 player.
You need a data cable. The best place to get one is RadioShack. If you already have a data cable, connect it to the USB port of your computer. It should automatically recognize it after a second. The best program I've found for mp3 players is the Windows Media Player. Go to the sync tab and follow the directions.
be sure that the music on your itunes is on mp3 format. most music files on itunes are on aac, check this on the file properties. when you connect your mp3 player to your pc using USB cable try to go to my computer and you will see a new drive in there usually it says removable drive. just copy and paste the music file to that drive.
i figured it out!!! I hooked up the mp3 player to my computer, using the USB cord, then went to "MY COMPUTER" opened the drive where the mp3 was connected and just deleted the folder i was holding the music in, and created a new one!! i had to download all my songs over again but it worked! YAAAYYY!! it took me a month to figure it out now im kickin myself for not trying it sooner!!
