Let me break this down for you.

Most of the reason people you use pdf. files is for schools businesses etc etc. Like they use it for a handbook or something like that. The reason they use pdf format is because usually a handbook or a manual has ALOT OF pages in it. And when you you save something as pdf. Its easier to navigate through.

The most common types format for pictures, is jpeg. Jpeg files tend to be very small but still hold quality of the pictures. When you send a picture to a friend or relative, its faster and ALWAYS easier to have it as jpeg. Because pictures saved in pdf format might be 10 or 11 megabytes. If you wanted to send that to a friend (even if you have high speed internet) it would take awhile. But a jpeg might only be 1 megabyte and it is easier for other people to open that file. They wont need special software like adobe reader to open a jpeg file. However if you send it to them as a PDF file and the dont have ado reader they cannot open the file.

So please be more specific as to what you would like to do with this file. SO i can help you choose the best route.
