All you need to do is turn it off then turn it back on and hold the reset/power button for a few seconds until it beeps then this will automatically setup your PS3 to whatever your TV is setup, I have found this to be an awesome help.

Have you ever plugged this same system into a different tv? if so you may have to take it back to that same tv and plug it in to change the tv layout to HDMI instead of regular 3 prong.

How to reset my ps3

Amanda, check your connections. Are you using the RCA cords, or HDMI? The PS3 can run the HDMI, but it's not as stable as the RCA cords provided by SONY. However, the HDMI connection is the only way to get the 1080dp or Hi-def video from your system. If you were using the HDMI and are switching back to the RCA cord, the system will NOT auto-recognize the connection like it did with the HDMI. You will have to either connect the system to a TV with HDMI, then manually change the connection type, or do a video reset on the system. Pretty easy to do. Simply turn on the system, and while holding the power button, wait for the second "beep" After you hear the second "beep" take your finger off of the power button and watch your screen. YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED YOUR FIRST VIDEO RESET!!! ^^It should turn on, but may take a moment. Sometimes it's instant, sometimes it can take about a minute. This works for ALL PS3 models.

My ps3 didnt want to show any video/audio. i did the whole 3 beep thing and it brought me to a menu, then i chose to reset the whole console, then i turned it off and on all of a sudden the screen wen

I think that your whole HDD is corrupt, but that doesn't explain why it wouldn't turn on. I don't know if it might have some adverse effects to do safe mode twice in a row. I wouldn't think it would be an issue. Have you tried other A/V connections? Like another cord, or HDMI? Give it a shot, it might be a simple cord issue. Well worth a look into. Good luck.

Ps3 will not show on screen at all...no disk load, no words. The TV does not even appear to pick PS3 signal. I bought the HDMI cord and still nothing.

Try to reset your ps3 it is done by holding the power until it beeps. just google it or u tube it. if this does not work you have a problem with you system.

It turns on but nothing shows up on the screen. i had it set to hdmi on a different tv but now it doesnt wrk n the new one. and it doesnt work with the original cords either

does the console even turn on?

if so
  • Have your ps3 in standby mode (red light).
  • Now, press and hold the power button in the front down. Your ps3 will beep twice. Let it go almost exactly after you heard the second beep.
  • Wait 10-15 seconds. A display will show up, and just answer yes to all!

My ps3 will not show a display of my tv

it might be the video cord depending on what your using, if you are using a HDMI cord you may want to use the normal AVI cords to set your ps3 for HD and them go back to the HDMI

Turns on fin sometime it wont turn on the freezes n shows lines

if you left it in your car with heat or even let it get too cold you may have caused damage. PS3 machines also say do not transport in the instructions especially with a disc inside this to me says their game system is really fragile and theirs a possibility you broke it even with the slightest bump.

Ps3 again

Well did you change the setting on the ps3 before you switched to the hdmi cable? sometimes this can pose as a issue. there is a actual setting on the ps3 for this. so I would switch back to the last cables used and then go and switch this in the setup of the ps3 then it should work no problem for you.

av and comp and hdmi all process the a/v differently through the cables sometimes even on my dvd player I have had to adjust this in the setting.

ok i think I understand what you are saying so if im wrong please correct me but I think you should try this if you need further info on how to change the setting let me know and I will dig up the process for you.

hope this has helped
