Cannot send attachments with emails after installing VOip adaptor router

I have just installed a NetCommV300 adaptor router with my existing NetComm NB5Plus4 modem. I now cannot send attachments with my emails. A message says,"Connection to mail server interupted" . NetComm advised me to play around with the MTU settings in themodem also the MTU enforcer but this does not fix the problem. Any ideas? Many thanks. Geoff.

    Thanks for speedy reply. Yes I have and also set MTU to various figures down to 1000 but the problem remains. I wondered whether it must be settings with my ISP. I have just connected to VOiP with great sucess.

    Re my previous post. I neglected to say that when I send attachments through webmail all is OK and when I disconnect the V300 my email attachments go through my email client OK. Geoff

Just would like to ask additional information pls, have you enabled NAT in the VOIP Router? MTU 1500 or something like that?

Appreciate if you can post back info.

Kind regards.

    Hi again,

    Allow me pls to summarize (and please correct where possible):
    1. Your PC's Ethernet port is connected to LAN1 of NetCommV300. The WAN of the router is connected to the Ethernet port of NetComm NB5Plus4 whose ADSL is connected to a telephone line from your ISP;
    2. You have NAT enabled in the NetCommV300;
    3. You have tried various settings if MTU from 1000 to 1500;
    4. Both the modem and the router has DHCP capability and both are enabled/active;
    5. your ISP is;

    Things you can initially try:
    1. disable the DHCP in the modem and manually configure the router's WAN settings to IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway/Router
    2. Set your PC to use IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway

    Further, you may want to call your ISP and explain your concern. They have specific information about port settings and port forwarding. You can try asking which port are they using - normally it is 25, but there are ISP who uses 587 or 465 and/or anything else they can tell you with regards to your particular setup - regular DSL with VOIP. Sometimes there are special configurations (due to the added feature(s) of the VOIP.

    Hope this be of initial help/ideas. Pls post back any developments.

    Good luck.

    From initial indications of your last post, it would seem that port 25 is blocked in your V300 or your email client(Outlook or Eudora pls?) needs to be configured.

Cannot access

In order to restore your router to its factory default settings, please follow these steps:
• Ensure that the ATA is powered on (for at least 20 seconds).
• Use a paper clip or a pencil tip to depress the reset button for ten seconds and release. At this point, the reset is in progress. Do not
power off the unit at this point.
• After the ATA reboots, the default settings are now restored. This entire process takes several minutes to complete.
• Once you have reset the ATA to its default settings you will be able to access the device's web configuration using with username "admin" and password "admin".

1. Connect the WAN port to your broadband router using the Ethernet cable supplied. If you would like your PC to be connected to the network through the V210P/V220, you can connect another Ethernet cable (not supplied) from your PC to the LAN Ethernet
port. This enables your PC and the ATA to share one Ethernet port on your router/switch.
2. Connect your telephone handset to the Phone port. For V220, you can connect an additional handset to Phone 2 port.
Notes: A second VoIP account is needed unless your VoIP provider supports multiple connections from the one account and both ports need to be configured
individually (even when using one account that supports multiple connections).
3. For V210P unit, connect the Line port to your PSTN wall socket.
4. Connect the AC power adaptor and press the power button to turn the ATA on. The ATA will boot up and in a few minutes, the
Power and Ethernet Lights will light up.

I want to change the existing wireless password on a netcomm nb5plus4w, can anyone help?

Your model NetComm may have a pinhole RESET button at the back of the router. If so power up the router and press and hold the RESET button until the LEDs flash. The router will now be returned to the factory default settings with the default password. You can now go into the router's configuration to change the password etc.

Can't access voice tab on WRP400

If your wireless VoIP router was provided by your VoIP provider they will usually lock this option on the router since they have pre-configured the voice settings(sip server, phone number, password, codecs) before they deliver the device to your location. if you have a working internet connection already you can give your VoIP proiver a call so that they can remotely check the voice settings on their end to verify if it's working or not.

I have a Netcomm NBPlus 4 Wireless Modem/Router and I have now bought, in addition, a D-Link DVG 1402S VOiP Router. I seem to have a problem getting the two to talk to each other prior to configuring the...

Set one of them up in bridging mode.

To get to the admin screen, check the bottom of the voip box to see if it's accessed through another IP.

If you have the voip router plugged into the Netcomm router, the IP address to access the voip is going to be assigned by your netcom. Assuming the voip router isn't serving dhcp addresses (i.e., 192.168.101 and so on)

FYI: Be sure you don't have both routers set up as dhcp servers.

You can acquire the voip router's ip from the admin interface of your netcom router.

If you are wanting to get them to talk to each other through entirely different IP addresses (subnets), create a route in your netcom router for your voip router. Bridging mode may make things easier for you.

Going back: If you have your netcom dishing out ip addresses to wireless and cable users, and you plug in the voip router to the netcom router, your voip router will receive an ip like any other computer on the network. Thus will use the netcoms ip as the default gateway and it gets messy after that --lack of connectivity.

Siemens Speedstream 4200 NetComm V300 on VOIP

When the V300 Line/Phone led flash in alternating fashion, it's telling you it's WAN connection is dead. The WAN light is off too. so internet and VoiP phone will not work

When the V300 Line/Phone led flash in sync, it can't register to the SIP server.

The V300 does not appear to be listed on the Mynetfone website though. Have you checked to see that your V300 has the latest Firmware. LINK

It may be that the V300 is not getting it's IP renewed. Can you alter the IP lease time? Do you have the V300 set up for PPPoE, or do you have it set to static or DHCP (refer CH4, page 25)

Install prob

I suspect these devices by default may be set to either the same IP address or exist on the same subnet. If you know how to configure the devices you can check. Possibly you can connect a computer to each (when not router and modem are not connected to each other) and issue use the open the DOS or command prompt type ipconfig and press enter to get the default gateway address for each device and report the contents back here. Otherwise you may need someone to lead you through those checks and reconfigure the devices as appropriate.

As a new owner of a wireless router you may also want to consider this as you are installing it.
