Hello there:
The water doesn't drain from the machine If the water doesn't drain from your dishwasher, check these: Drain line/air gap Pump Drain valve and/or solenoid Belt Motor Timer Drain line/air gap Aclog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reasonthat a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point wherethe drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drainline. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hoseor hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting thedishwasher again. Pump Yourdishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directlyto the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You canreach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to removethe lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support. Lookfor an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spinsaround. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through thespray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which issimilar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impellerpushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up thepump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replacethem. Drain valve and/or solenoid Manydishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. Whenelectricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts thewater to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly.Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you mayhave to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, themotor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drainvalve diverts the water. Partof what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If thetimer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need toreplace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

Our dishwasher doesn't get the dishs clean. The Model No. is dwu6750aam- serial10607783qy

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

This is usually caused by either a restricted drain, (usually the problem) or larger than usual particulate under the lower wash arm tower.
The restricted drain can manifest itself:
- At the air gap at the sink (remove cover by lifting straight up then unscrew the inner cap nut and remove the particulate) NOTE the installed position of the upper cap under the nut as it will only go back together in one position)
- At the Air Gap outlet hose connections (remove hoses 2 ea. and inspect plastic tubing)
- At the sink connection. This can be either a direct plumbing connection or a garbage disposal connection. (remove the hose and inspect drain port hole for the connection.)
- At the pump outlet, (remove hose and inspect drain port)
If after doing the above you still have drain problems you will have to remove the lower wash arm and support to inspect the sump area for debris. NOTE: Pay close attention to how the lower wash arm is assembled.... they can end up being a rubitz cube!

Your illustrated parts list is here: (I will list item numbers below)
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=44530&diagram_id=28395557#d28395557

Make sure that the lower wash arm (Item 2) and the upper wash arm (item 21) do not have food particulate in the holes.

There is a very very remote possiblity that the pump filter (item 6) is clogged but unless the unit sat with food particulate in it for months of no use it should not be bad.

After doing all of the above you still have the problem it is most likely the impeller (item 13) that has failed.

The water is not pumping up for spray.....simply just runs in due to regular water pressure. It does pump out and drain.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. (FYI there are 36 versions of this dishwasher.. the last digits on the model number are important when ordering parts.)
Dishes not getting clean is caused by either a restricted drain, (usually the problem) or larger than usual particulate under the lower wash arm tower.
The restricted drain can manifest itself:
- At the drain pump outlet, (remove hose and inspect drain port)
- At the air gap at the sink (remove cover by lifting straight up then unscrew the inner cap nut and remove the particulate) NOTE the installed position of the upper cap under the nut as it will only go back together in one position)
- At the Air Gap outlet hose connection (remove hose and inspect plastic tubing)
- At the sink connection. This can be either a direct plumbing connection or a garbage disposal connection. (remove the hose and inspect drain connection.)

As far as the lower wash arm tower
- Remove the lower wash arm.... NOTE the stack up of parts... it only goes together one way!!!!
See this link http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5149295&diagram_id=28203146#d28203146 - Check item 4 above link for debris. - Ensure the o-ring item 3 of above link is in place.
- Remove the lower wash arm
- Clean the screen / fingered drain areas.
- Remove the accumulator cover and check in the pump impeller area for a broken impeller or damaged pump housing.
Your parts can be found here:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5149295&diagram_id=28189218#d28189218

One more item to check is the Drain Pump (Item 17 of the above link) It should br running when in a drain cycle. If it is not running remove it and check for debris in the impeller and pump inlet. Also make sure the pump outlet is NOT clogged. Once your sure it is free of debris check winding resistance and then check input power to the motor in a drain cycle. Remember that your first checking winding resistance and then input POWER. (Meter switch position change required)

I really need the long model number if you need further assistance. The model number will look like this 220.13599000 but the numbers could be something much different. (This example is for Kenmore)

Drainage problem

Regardless of the brand dishwasher, they all have the same fundamental plumbing. so.. you need to check a few basic things first..

1. Have you cleaned the drain filter or screen?
2. Is the drain hose kinked or restricting water flow?
3. Is your dishwasher pump blocked internally or the hose entering or exiting it ?
4. Is the house drain ( meaning : where that hose drains water into) restricting water flow? ( back pressure or clogged?

Any one of these conditions will manifest itself as an undrained dishwasher.. Hope this gives you some things to check and you get your problem resolved...

Dishwasher drains into sink

As background, the dirty water typically goes from the dishwasher to a small tube within a tube, and that goes to the disposal. This ensures that your dishwasher does not back up in the event of a clog.

The problem is likely that the tube that links the thing you see next to your faucet to the disposal is either totally or, more likely, partially blocked.

I recommend taking the entire flex pipe off and inspecting. In my case it was about 80% blocked, so a simple test whereby water was pored down failed to show the issue.

Once I took it apart and gave the tube a plumbing version of an angioplasty all was well.
