Hi there. My problem is this; at the VERY TOP of the tv screen, there are white-broken horizonal flashing lines[ across the top of the picture ], not across the entire tv screen. Here's what I mean. It only does it in [full screen] HD format, with the black bars on the side. [never wide screen HD format]. MITSUBISHI says the problem in in my directv hd receiver. Wrong!! I replaced the hd receiver with a new one. --SAME DAMN PROBLEM!! So it is oviously the TV. Whats wrong with it. Thankyou,--- Tom K.

Sorry this was my solution I forgot to sign in hope this helps you : If the lines dip down enough this could be true what was said by MARR. Although in your case it seems as though you are talking about the white line you can barley see at the top when the tv is showing hd in 4:3 format. This is caused by the hd signal is underscanned and nothing inside the tv will fix this problem this is a signal issue. The way to get rid of this is with your tv remote you need to change the Aspect to "Just" this will not cut off any picture and will take care of that line. You are free to zoom etc...with your sat remote. Make sure you make the aspect change I talked about on the tv itself this should get you set up. See this all the time now...all models all diffrent type of signals all brands/

The best way to determine what is at fault is to disconnect the Denon tuner and run the signal straight to the TV. If the problem goes away, the Denon is at fault.

I went to the Sony support page for your model.(link below)http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=KP61V85&LOC=3
They are undergoing maintenance right now, so I couldn't find any answers for you. I would check back with the website to see if they can help you. If the Standby timer light flashes, you may need to have the TV repaired. There is a "Hot Topics" section for "How to troubleshoot television picture issues" that will probably be very helpful to you.

Sounds like insufficient vertical sweep and the top lines are getting out of control.
Check all the electrolytic caps in the vertical circuit for testing dry (sorry - takes a special meter to do it in circuit) or just replace them. Look the I.C. up in the free NTE crossreference at nteinc.com get a diagram of its pinout to find what pins the power and outputs are on.
Hope ya fix it!

No picture or just one line across screen on hitachi ultravision rearproj.

Could be a loose connection on the printed circuit board in the Vertical deflection circuit.
You would have to have a qualified technician to repair this problem.
A intermittent connection in the circuit described can cause a horizonal line across the screen.
You have to be careful and not leave the TV on for a period of time with a bright line, as it can actually burn a line on the CRT screens, which is permanent.
