Valve tap cause

Most engines now use hydraulic lifters and they can leak a little, this causes space between then lifter and the push rod. This results in a tapping noise that goes away when they get warm or fill back up.

Got a corsa 07 got a ticking noise for about ten minutes then its ok but i think it will get worse

sounds like tappets they need adjusting get a screw driver a long 1 and put it against ur engine, and your ear to the handle of screwdriver wiles engine is running to hear the noise clearer, it sounds like oil is draing down then when u start up oil is pumped around it stops .

Car will not crank up. When you turn the key in the ignition you hear tic, tic, tic, tic, tic...the lights come on, the doors lock and the radio comes on.

If the battery is old, it may no longer have the cranking amp it needs to turn the starter. If you have a multi-meter. Check the load on the battery when you get someone to start the engine, if the meter reads that it drops below 10.5 volts. You need a new battery, if the readings are good, then you'll need a new starter.

Good luck and keep us posted, a set of good jumper cables and another car may help get the engine started for now by boosting the battery.

VOLVO S-40 1,9TD 2002 year. Engine is knoking at first or second gear at 1500 rev/min while accelerating.

Sounds like you have bought a pup, could be nothing more than a the hydraulic tappets or?? a lot worse and unless i hear the noise i wouldnt have a clue to be trueful, best advice is to add some STP to quieten it down and then trade it in quick
