Try printing in single color mode found in the drop down menu - top left corner of the screen. If the line is not present in cyan or magenta etc, then you are probably looking at the black drum unit being faulty. If it happens in every mode, it could be your ITB cleaning assembly that needs replacement. Check the drum life counter in service mode - if the black is very high - over 100% this is another indication (not proof) that the black drum is faulty and needs replacement.
half page? just half top page (top-bottom), or left and right. If just left half page, set page setup as actually paper wide that inserted. because, if actually paper wide is smaller than page setup, some epson printer jsut print half. before starting printing, the paper sensor measure paper wide first.
I assumed you are using a digital copier/printer, in digital machine there were 2 kinds of diagnosing a problem, and you are right with your observation Copying and Printing, and each have two separate troubleshooting.
If you say that in printing is fine, then the problem is with the scanning part which is in your Optical Unit, here's some pointers
1- Open the optical glass on the top, with screws
2- Observed the optical unit with 3 reflective glass, it could be dirty
3- the middle of the optical system is called the CCD which converts the image from the reflective mirrors, see if you can find dust and dirt.
4- Check the lamp for any sign of dirt this could cause also some problems.
these are the only areas you need to check, nothing else, and this would surely solve this problem
Change the paper settings in the driver when you go to print. If you have it set to 10x15 it will only print a 10x15 patch in the corner.
Go to START, PRINTERS AND FAXES then right click on R300 and select PROPERTIES. Click PRINTING PREFERENCES and set the correct paper properties. Click OK all the way to desk top and the settings will be saved.
On the printer panel press ADVANCED, scroll down 3 times to PAPER SIZE and press OK. Select A4 and press OK.
