What is the cause of new cartridges running out of ink while checking trying to align print head?

You must replace the print head., as long as printer detecting that nozzles are not firing properly., it keep on cleaning the head, result it will drains the inks from the ink tanks...once you replaced both print head & tanks, take print outs at least twice in a week., perform nozzle cleaning once in a month to avoid this type of nonsense..

Wrong Color Printing

Hi,
Type "print nozzle test" in the search box and click Search. Perform a nozzle test, and if the colors match what are on the instructions, your print head and inks are OK.

(1) If the print head and inks check out OK, type "wrong colors on print" in the search box, and you will see several troubleshooting steps you can try.

(2) If the nozzle test colors are off, confirm that you are using BCI-6 inks for all three colors and the small black tank. You should only have a BCI-3 tank in the large black position. If you have all the correct inks, your machine probably needs to be serviced/ repaired.

Thank

I can't print with the black ink. I performed a print head cleaning, and then I printed the nozzle check pattern. I noticed that the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow shows up. However, the black checkered...

Simple problem that print head cleaning will typically not fix. The black ink is pigment based so it tends to form more stubborn clogs. Just remove the print head and if you have a steamer hit the black printhead nozzles with some pressured steam. If not available, soak the surface of the printhead in shallow hot water (try not to get the contact wet or be sure to dry them if you do). You can tell if the printhead nozzles are open by folding a section of wet paper towel like 5-10 layers and then soak it, press the printhead surface up and down lightly on the wet paper towel and if the nozzles are open you will see some ink pulse in the black port screen (the colors will also pulse from the pressure of the liquid under the printhead). It's easier than it sounds so give it a try. I've saved 100s of Canon printheads this way.

Note: if you have a really dried out head, you sometimes have to soak from the top inlet ports and the bottom nozzle surface to clear, but unlikely in you case since you had a black cartridge installed with ink in it (this keeps the top port from drying).

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Ink levels show emptry.

Need one plastic plate that you don't care much about, or a plastic disposable plate.
Tear off one section from a paper towel roll and roll it up into about a 1-inch diameter roll.
Flatten the roll
Soak the flattened roll in warm water
Lay the flattened roll down on the plate
Place the nozzle area of the ink cartridge directly against the wet paper towel
Fold the flattened roll as needed to support the ink cartridge so it stands upright.

The trick here is to make sure the cartridge is supported upright so the nozzles come in full contact with the wet towel surface.
The wet towel acts as a wick to soften and draw out the ink.
After awhile, you shoudl see a kaleidoscope of colors on the paper towel. This indicates the nozzles have been opened up and the ink is flowing. Try to print and see what happens.
Repeat as needed.

I haven't used my canon pixma for a few weeks, came to use it again and the 3e black cartridge won't work, (tried printing from computer and copying) have done a clean, deep clean and nozzle check, even...

The black print head is clogged. The reason why the black is clogged and not the photo black or any colors is that the black is pigment ink and the photo black and colors are dye based ink. The pigment ink is a particulate formulation that binds up when water is evaporated out of the ink. You need to buy a new print head the fix the problem. You can buy a new print head for $75 from precision roller.com.

C88 only green and yellow

You are out of black and magenta (tricolor cartridge) ink or ink has dried up.
Try touching the nozzle plate (underneath print cartridge) with a water dampened cloth (not alcohol) for cleaning clogged nozzles (do not rub).
Ultimate remedy : put in contact nozzle plate with hot water for about 5 seconds.
If color still missing your printer need new cartridges.
