1 Answer

Linksys wrt54g I have recently purchased trend internet security pro,I'm thinking the two firewalls are conflicting because,I have had to connect the ethernet cable directly from the modem to the back of the tower. Before i installed trend the router was set up wirelessly all of the lights are lit up on the front of the router and the internet light but i'm not sure if I'm being protected.I would also like to fix it to where my computer would be the only one able to get on this network plus I want to set up my WII on this network. I just don't want anyone able to use my network please help!!!

I have had a Linksys router for awhile now and I

You see what is happening is that the signals are hetrodyning together and cancelling out, so it all just messes up because they are on the same basic frequency of 2.4GHz. Either make the antenna(s) Directional,or Try changing channels on either one, or both, if you can set channels as far apart as you can.

Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router Issue Allows 1 Computer at a time

Your router my not be DCHP enabled or it might not be assigning the IP addresses either.

I would do a reset and start all over with your security settings and see if that works. Worst case scenario you could always turn security off when your parents or others are there.

Slowed internet connection using wireless router...

Normal!

Wired connections are faster than equivalently wireless connections (from/to the same node) and so your
experienced is quite normal.

Additional nodes divide the original bandwidth and denigrate the performance, which is why one tries to
maximize the original bandwidth (speed in MHz) of the connection to the gateway.

You can maximize your experience by having critical systems wired to the router, and this also provides
greater security than any encryption (which is another brake on your speed) necessary for a wifi
connection.

Make sure you have the fastest possible wifi card in your portable devices to maximize your speed.

Unable to access the internet via my laptop

One of two problems. The Security Key for your wireless connection is wrong, or the McAfee is causing a problem. Most likely conflicting with any other virus software on your computer. Try removing McAfee from the computer and your solution should go away. Try another virus software such as Avast! Home edition. McAfee is known for having issues with wireless internet connections.

It may be you are directly connecting it without configuring from what the LAN IP of internet gateway and wireless router are conflicted.

solution: You change the LAN IP of wireless router then only you connect it to your LAN. otherwise detail your question for more understanding.
