If the Sony DVP-NS77H DVD player displays "TRAY LOCKED" and you can't
eject a disc or open the tray, try the following - First turn the unit
off. Then, while holding down the eject, play and stop buttons
simultaneously (on the front of the DVD player), turn the unit on with
the '/O button (also on the front of the player). This released the
locked tray for me.
Ensure the child lock feature is disabled. Try Power resetting the Player. Turn Off the player and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons or the RETURN + ENTER+ POWER buttons. If the issue still persists, service might be required.
Look on the bottom of the unit. There is a hole with the letters ex and op. Shine a light in the hole and you will see a white plastic object with a slot for a slot screwdriver. You can turn this either way but be careful. If you feel resistance and the object does not turn, turn the other direction and the unit will open. Remember if the disc loaded the clamping of the disc is in place so you must turn it the proper way to let the current disc loose hence the op and the ex. Op is open. Ex is exchange.
