Question about ASUS MyPal A636

1 Answer

It keeps turning off when it's not at the cradle. So, I purchased new battery, but it still keeps turning off. I suspect that it's not getting power from its battery due to some reason. Any hint? Where should I go to fix this?

Is the battery got a tight connection to the pins in the device? Try jamming it in with paper. Mine had the sae problem when it tried to use the SD card. When I jammed in some paper to make a closer connection it worked.

All palm information has vanished.

Your battery may have 'died' or not been recharged in the cradle. Make sure the light on the cradle is on (green) when the Palm is correctly seated. If not, follow the cable from the cradle to the serial port at the back of the computer. The other wire entering that connector comes from the power pack - check that the power pack is plugged in to the power supply and is switched on. If he green light still isn't illuminating then the power pack is suspect and may need replacing.
After it has been in the cradle with the green light on for a couple of hours, do a hotsync. This should restore some of the data. If you get this far, then you will need to follow the instructions in the manual to restore your programs. If the battery is dead then I think it is unlikely you will get another since Palm no longer services the Vx

My Samsung Blackjack II won't charge.

Return to the carrier for warranty repair.

If you are out of warranty there are some options you can choose from

1. Get repaired
2. New phone
3. external charging source

The external battery charger runs about 20 dollars on ebay with an extra battery.

When charging my axim X30 on the cradle, the on-off light is blinking from green light to amber consistantly... when I remove the device from cradle the device does not turn on at all.. I have replaced the...

It sounds to me that your "original" battery, the one that causes the blinking when charging is completly drained dead, causing it to show an error by blinking the light.
I have one of these PDA's and have never had that problem, I also have a larger battery as well, and it works great. I suggest recycling the other battery, and possibly purchasing another larger one for back up,
Good luck!

Ipaq3600 possible battery problem?

In general, Ebay Ipaq's come without a battery (well, not one worth anything). The problem is that it really could be two different issues: either the charging circuit or the battery. The only way to test this is if you know someone else that owns this model and see if the battery works in theirs, or purchase a new battery. But the new battery might not fix it, so if it's cheap, I'd try it but if you're tight on cash then it might not be worth the chance. I'd give a new battery a 70% chance of working.

PC/PDA "connected" yet PC won't read PDA

try syncing through bluetooth, there could be a problem with the cradle. i have had an issue very similar to yours and had to do a soft reset on my pda. then set up your device to use a blue tooth connection( you may need to buy a bluetooth dongle for your pc).

Mitac mio 168 non charging problem

I sent my battery back and it was replaced by the supplier. The unit is fine now so the only conclusion I can come to is that it is due to a faulty battery....

I got the same problem. I even tried to plug the battery to the second battery charging slot, still couldn't get it back to life. But the Ipaq screen lights on with progress bar progress for about 5 seconds, then dead again. I even doubted the battery was toasted.
I gave it a final shot:
1. Remove the battery, and then put it back.
2. While the screen lights on, within 2 seconds, cold reset the unit by press the hole with stylus and push the power button at top in the same time.
In my case, the progress bar will keep going until I see the tap screen instruction and everything back to normal. But it reminds me that the removable battery is totally discharged. So I put it in cradle and I am able to synch it with my PC. Everything seems o.k. while it sits in the cradle, except the charging light won't turn red.
When I remove it from the cradle, it still lights on, battery shows 99% which is healthy. but when I turned it off, it won't start anymore. I have to repeat the above steps to revive it. Sometimes I have to remove the battery and wait for a while and then put it back, so that the screen can light on to give me chance to cold reset.
Conclusion: Maybe need a new battery. I will check Ebay to get one.
Please post if you have other solutions.

It won't turn on, bt the battery still charging

Another way I've found to do this is to press the power button and reset button at the same time. Then when you get the message to clear all data press cancel. I get this every time I re-charge my axim in the cradle. Doesn't anyone have a better solution? When it happens I have to reset my time. It's usually a day behind.
