I'm not familiar with that particular model, but with many of their models (and many other manufacturer models as well), unfortunately the beep cannot be turned off.

When unplugging it for half a minute or so (this should reset all settings) won't help, it must be defect. When you are convinced you did press the right buttons and you are in the correct program you don't need to unplug. But for that you have to be sure it is not switched to oven. In 30 seconds it won't be warm enough to heat your coffee

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

To replace the light bulb first remove the screws located on the vent grill at the top of the microwave, tilt the grill back and then pull away to remove. After this open the light cover , you have to remove the screws so that you can discard the old light bulb and then replace it with a new one. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

F6 on these models means that the cook relay on the control circuit board is shorted, and it is cooking anytime the door is closed.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one-year guarantee.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you prefer, you can buy a new circuit board (part number 8169733 for $150.27) from the Pros

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.

Microwave/Convection Oven has mind of its own: turns to Crisp mode on its own.

Yes this is a touchpad issue. As you have noted the crisp button is stuck and this is the cause of this. You can try removing the keypad and push up the pressed button. If its jammed then replacing it is the only way.

Our Sharp Microwave Model R-508FS has just recently started doing some odd things. If you key in a time and press start, it may continue to microwave but the timer will not count down. Or, if you...

I believe I've solved the problem. I had tried the hard reset but then last night I thought about it and decided that since this house was built 22 years ago, I wondered if the electrician had used the short cut method on installing the sockets for electrical power. So, I measured the voltage at the adjoining socket while heating water. The voltage before turning on the microwave was 122.7 volts. After the microwave was turned on, it dropped down to 107.6 volts. I located the circuit breaker and shut it off and then pulled out the dual socket. Sure enough, they had used the time saving technique of stripping the wire back about 5/8 inch and then pressed it into the back of the socket. I figured it would be better with the microwave pulling 12 amps to just take the wire and wrap it around the screws on the side of the plug, tighten them down and then put it back in the box. Turned the circuit breaker back on and reset the clock on the microwave and did some more tests. No problems so far and when I measured the voltage drop, it went from 122.7 down to 119.7 running at full power. Don't remember the wire size but it was adequate. The only other thing I may try to eliminate any voltage drop would be to go to the master breaker box and tighten down the screw on the breaker going to that microwave outlet. I had tightened them all down in the whole 200 amp box a long time ago, but it probably wouldn't hurt to go thru the whole box again.
