Question about Samsung HP-P5091 50 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

PC connection I have seperately connected my PC and my laptop using the VGA connection and no picture on the PDP even when I select the 'Source' function on my remote. I have used the menu on the AV1, TV and HDMI and the PC name is greyed out no amount of friiging with the controls gives me access to the PC. I have used 'info, menu, mute, power on' to get to the reset but apart from resetting to my own settings, the PC name is still greyed out. I noticed when I pushed warm boot on my PC, the plasma screen flickered. Incidentally I have had this PDP for 2 weeks and when i first plugged in my PC it worked great. I also setup PIP and had my PC as the main screen with the TV as a smaller screen in the right hand corner. Next day no picture.

How to connect to laptop or tv

You can go to The Source(radio shack) or Walmart and purchase a VGA with audio plug and plug it from your VGA out located on the side of your laptop and the audio(headphone jack). Then, the other end will plug into the matching VGA(PC) plug-in on your tv and the audio jack, which will be located next to the PC plug. Then you will go to your menu of the TV,select video or video source and choose PC.If it does`nt show a picture, you may need to reboot your laptop once for the drivers to be loaded into your windows operating system. Please let me know if successful...good luck :)

I JUST CONNECTED THE PC TO TV WITH VGA TO RCA CABLE BUT PICTURE WON'T COME ON THE TV SCREEN

Make sure that you have the correct display mode selected. While many connections like a VGA to VGA connection will automatically detect, I don't think a VGA to RCA adapter will. Go to control panel/display and see if your computer has detected the second display.
Also make sure the RGB or RCA is selected as the input source on your TV.
Once these are both set correctly you should be in business!

I have a Panasonic Viera tx l37g20b and i am attempting to connect it through a VGA cable. I have connected the laptop to the TV, but there is no option in the TV's menu to select the laptop as the input...

You should have a SOURCE select button on the remote control to select the input source. This should allow you to select the VGA input as the input source. You will also need to make sure your laptop is configured to output a signal via the external VGA port.

TRYING TO INPUT LAPTOP TO RGB IN,AUDIO WORKS BUT VISUALY "NO SIGNAL"

Reading the online manual - You should have the laptop connected by VGA - PC input
VGA Connection you need to select the correct input on the TV
  • Select the RGB-PC input source on the TV using the INPUT button on the remote control.
you will need to set the laptop up to output to the VGA output, to do this - varies by different manufacturers - But often F4 or F5, with the FN key selects the VGA output - have a look at the F keys across the top of the machine and see if you can see a picture of a screen - then use the FN and that F key together to toggle between display it will change to <Laptop Screen Only><Laptop screen and VGA output><VGA output only> not necessarily in that order.

I have a dell inspiron (600m) andi also have a dell flat screen television. i used to be able to connect my laptop and tv, so the tv would become a flatscreen. i would go to VGA and my laptop would appear....

I assume you would switch the TV's source to VGA. Is that correct?

Connect it the same way you did before, with the VGA cable. Then hit Fn + F8 on your keyboard, to switch the signal from your laptop screen to the VGA cable. Then select VGA as your source on your TV as you did before.

If that does not work, please post and tell us what type of television you have.

Yes, you need to press the key combination for your laptop to direct the video output through the external VGA port. It varies by laptop, but it usually involves the use of the Function (Fn) key and another key like F4...look for a picture of a screen in the same color as your function key.

Problems connecting my acer laptop with tv

Sound and picture are two seperate things unless you use an HDMI cable so lets just deal with the picture first
After you do the connection, you need to tell your laptop to present the picture to the TV.
1- On your keyboard, one of your function keys (F1, F2 etc.) will have a short cut for this as a secondary functionality. Check for the function key that has an icon on it that looks like a screen (usually it is f4 or f7). Then hit the key that activates  your secondary functions and the key you just identified. This should activate the VGA output and in most cases will also give you a configruation screen (where you can select it as a secondary display, dual display etc.)
If this short cut doesnt work, you can try this
2- Make sure VGA cable is connected on both ends. Right click your desktop on the computer and select "Properties". On the new dialog, select the last tab "Settings". Click the drop down box under "Display" and you should see the TV as the secon option, select it. Then select the check box that says "Extend my display...", click Apply and OK. This should expand your screen to the TV, you should now be able to drag windows from your laptop's screen to your TV's.
Good luck! (Instructions on option 2 are for XP, if you use Vista let me know and I will look up the terminology for that)

Connecting my laptop to my samsung tele

Most common problem is the VGA cable. Make sure you have the 15 pin VGA Monitor cable.

1. Switch off the TV & Notebook
2. Connect the VGA cable to the TV and Notebook.
3. Switch on the Notebook. Set the resolution to 800 x 600 Pixels (Go to Control Panel - Adjust Screen Resolution). Then go to Advanced settings and set 'Screen Refresh rate' as 60 hz in the Monitor tab,
4. Switch on the TV. Go to Source button from the TV remote and select PC as input source. Alternatively, you can go to 'Menu' and select 'PC' as input source. If the connection is made properly, PC option will NOT be GREY anymore.
5. Press Fn + F5, F6, F7 (depending on which Notebook brand you have)
