Question about InFocus Proxima DP1000X Multimedia Projector

Proxima dp 1000x

My projector shuts off by itself. i'm wandering if it shuts down before the bulb shatters, cause the bulb has 1,069hrs on it i;m not sure how long it is supposed to have on the bulb before it is no good. i just dont want to buy another bulb if that does not fix the problem. please help me.

The lamp is good for 2000 hours. it may shut down due to fan obstructions, overheating, or the colorwheel is bad and needs replacing. also, the power supply/ballast may need replacing.

the interface between the mother-board and the power-supply is not work well

In Focus Ask Proxima M2+ has a squeaking noise and the image flickers. After about 30 minutes the unit goes to standby.


Bearing on the fan is probably shot, causing the unit to heat up and shut down. Repair would more than likely exceed the replacement value of the projector.

The source is constantly switching from video to computer


try brand new cables and reflashing the firmware. if this fails then your main board is likely the culprit.

Can the bulb out of Proxima DP6860 work in a DP6850?


No they will not interchange.

The DP6860 takes a bulb number LAMP-030 and is a 250 watt bulb.

The DP6850 takes a bulb number LAMP-017 and is a 190 watt bulb.

If you could physically make them fit by some means, likely just the wattage difference would cause problems with the projector. These bulbs require much more electronics to light up than what a normal household bulb does. I'm assuming the projector would think the lamp is either burned out or worst case cause damage to the power supply in the projector.

My projector keeps shutting down(sleep mode) after only being on for 5 minutes. how can I stop that from happening?


The problem with you Projector is most likely the bulb. Here is a good guide on how to change out the lamp on your projector:

I also suggest reading about the counterfeit lamps and buying the original lamp as recommended by the above link. You may find yourself troubleshooting further for no reason simply by buying an aftermarket replacement.

only 3 things cause no light: bad lamp, bad ballast, bad colorwheel, or bad fan. if you feel the fan blowing and the lamp is good, do you hear a high pitched whir? if yes, the colorwheel works and it may be the ballast. if not, or it chirps, it's the colorwheel.

White vertical line in the center of projected image


I have a Dell 2400MP projector that had the same problem of vertical white lines appearing over the screen.

This may seem like a simple solution, and I don't know if this will work for you, but the way I solved the problem was simply to press the bottom side of the projector, until the white lines disappear . Until now, the problem has yet to resurface.

Here's some simple steps:
1. Turn on projector
2. Connect projector to computer
3. Focus projector
4. If white vertical line appears, firmly press underside body of projector
5. See if vertical white line disappears
6. If not, try slowly pressing other parts of the body of the projector and see if white lines disappear.
7. If solution doesn't work, you may need to send it to the service center.
