Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete message history archive on your computer. You can copy it to the same location on another computer if you want to view it there. We've included instructions for Windows XP and Windows Vista users.
To locate your complete message history archive on Windows XP:
  1. Open the "Run" command: press Windows Logo+R on your keyboard.
  2. Copy and paste the text below into the Run command ' then click OK:

    %ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\
To locate your complete message history archive on Windows Vista or Windows 7 (32-bit):
  1. Open the "Run" command: press Windows Logo+R on your keyboard.
  2. Copy and paste the text below into the Run command ' then click OK:

    %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\
To locate your complete message history archive on Windows Vista or Windows 7 (64-bit):
  1. Open the "Run" command: press Windows Logo+R on your keyboard.
  2. Copy and paste the text below into the Run command ' then click OK:

    %LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Yahoo!\Messenger\
Warning: Copying your Profiles folder to another computer overwrites any existing message history archive on that computer and it is replaced by yours. That overwritten message history archive will be permanently eliminated by this process. (Workaround: Backup that message archive first to a storage medium such as a CD ROM.)

How to Change a Yahoo ID Name for a Chat Room |

INSTRUCTIONAL STEP TO FOLLOW
From the main page of Yahoo.com, click on the "More Yahoo! Services" option at the left side of the screen. In the pop-up screen, click on the"Chat" option. The following page will direct you to a place where you can download Yahoo! Messenger. Make sure you download the correct version that is compatible with your operating system, and that youclosely follow the appropriate steps for installing the chatting tool. Wait to be asked to enter your Yahoo! ID and password in order to sign on.You may already have a Yahoo! ID if you have previously signed up for a Yahoo! service. The majority of users typically have a Yahoo! ID from using Yahoo! Mail. You can sign on with the same user ID and password you use for your Yahoo! Mail if you would like. But keep in mind that members of a chat room might have easier access to finding out who you are. The safest and best option is to create an alternative ID name and password. Instead of signing into Yahoo! Messenger with the user ID you already have, click on the "Create Yahoo! ID" option at the bottom the Yahoo!Messenger page. A new screen should appear that prompts you to create an entirely new user ID. However, this time, only include the minimal information needed to create a user ID. For example, you do not need to include your alternative email. When finished, click on "Create MyAccount."Now that you have an alternate Yahoo! ID, only use your newly created user ID for when you enter a chat room. You can still sign onto Yahoo!Messenger using your normal Yahoo! ID to chat with trusted friends.Once you are signed on with your normal Yahoo! ID, you can switch to your alternate user ID before entering chat rooms. The following, final step will help you with this simple process. Clickon "Profile" in the top toolbar, then click on "My Profiles." Now clickon "Edit Profiles." You will be taken to your normal Yahoo! profile.Click on "Account Info" in the top, right-hand corner of the page.Click on "Edit/Create Aliases" on the right-hand side of the page. You can now add the new Yahoo! ID you have created. Once this is complete,go back to Yahoo! Messenger and click on "Join a Yahoo! Chat Room" frothe "File" option in top toolbar. At the top of the chat-room pop-up,you now have the option to switch your Yahoo! ID before entering a room.

I want to join a room

Follow the steps mentioned below :

1.Visit Yahoo's home page.
2.Click the 'Sign In' link and enter your username and password in the fields provided.
3.Click on 'Groups' in the list of services on the Yahoo home page.
4.Select a chat room that sounds like one you'd like to join by clicking on its name.
5.Enter the chat room by clicking on the 'Join This Group' link. You will be taken to a page where you'll need to enter some brief information before joining.
6.Create a profile if you don't have one so others you are chatting with can view things like your hobbies and your picture if you choose. However, be sure not to reveal too much personal information in your profile, such as your phone number or address.

Start Chatting :

1.Have a look around after you have registered to enter the chat room. You can view messages that other members are leaving, read their profiles and browse archives of message histories to get to know the chat room.
2.Say hello once you get comfortable. You can do this by clicking on 'Start Topic' and then typing your message in the fields provided and clicking 'Send.' A simple introduction is as appropriate for your first message in a chat room as it is at a party or anywhere else.
3.Enjoy your chatting experience! Messages are added almost constantly so there is almost always something new to read and comment on.

Thefirst thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in InternetExplorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger so things thatgo wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. Here is the yahoo help page aboutthat: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng... 2)In the Start Menu click on Run. Type, without the quotes, "regsvr32jscript.dll" and then click OK. Next, repeat the process but this time type inthe Run box "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and click OK. Please note, if you are usingWindows Vista temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You caneasily turn it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose UserAccounts and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn UserAccount Control on or off. 3)If the above does not fix your problem and you are using Windows XP, you canupdate your Windows Script to version 5.7. In my experience helping others, this is the step that has helped the most people. Exit all browser windows andchat programs including Yahoo Messenger before installing. run registry cleanerreginout cleaner to easily fix it

This information I am going to give has helped many people with this issue.

CAN'T SEE TEXT IN INSTANT MESSAGES?
This is an issue that is cropping up more and more. If just a new problem try exiting Yahoo Messenger and then relaunching it. Even try rebooting your computer. If both those fail to solve your problem then try the suggestions below.

1) The first thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger so things that go wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. Here is the yahoo help page about that: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...

2) In the Start Menu click on Run. Type, without the quotes, "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and then click OK. Next, repeat the process but this time type in the Run box "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and click OK. Please note, if you are using Windows Vista temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.

3) If the above does not fix your problem and you are using Windows XP, you can update your Windows Script to version 5.7. In my experience helping others, this is the step that has helped the most people. Exit all browser windows and chat programs including Yahoo Messenger before installing. Here is link from Microsoft to update that:
http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/detai...
Or you can do an internet search for Windows Script 5.7 and choose the Microsoft link.

This version of Window Script is already included with Vista so you would not use that link. There is also a Windows Script 5.7 released for Windows 2000 and you can find that here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

Source for the fix: post #28 on this link:
http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/yahoo-...

I would appreciate it if you would email me at my_mailbox08@yahoo.com (or you can email me via my Yahoo Answers Profile) to let me know the other information I need (see below) from you which of the suggestions fixed this issue for you.

If you contact me I need some information from you. 1) What Operating system are you using (XP, Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium etc)? 2) Please check the version of Yahoo Messenger you are using. I need all the decimal places. At the top of YM go to Help and then select About Yahoo Messenger and you will see the version number (I do not need the module number). 3) Which version of Internet Explorer you are using 6 or 7. To locate the version number of IE you are using look at the top of the browser window under Help and then About Internet Explorer. 4) And lastly, I need to know which of the 3 fixes above solved this problem for you. Thanks!

How to set the privacy settings on a Yahoo profile?

Yahoo used to hold profiles at members.yahoo.com but now all the profiles have been redone. I've had yahoo for like a decade now and was not aware that my profile was gone. He's not lying to you he just hasn't been made aware and set his new profile up yet. Inform him that he needs to do so if you're going to be able to view it.
